You stepped off of the bus and walked towards the entrance of the school, slightly shaking. You checked your phone one last time before sliding it into the front of your bag. It was 6:30, still slightly dark outside. This routine was one you knew too well, you have had to wake up this early for three years now, but this time it was different.

"You can do this Y/n, high school won't be that bad."

You whispered to yourself as you walked into the building. As soon as you set foot into the main lobby of the school, you let out a sigh, lifting your bag onto one shoulder. A large crowd of people made their way to their classes, some way older than you. You were only in ninth grade, high school was a new concept to you. You looked around frantically for at least one of your friends, but there wasn't anyone that looked familiar in the large crowd. You quietly walked around, looking for your class. After what seemed like an eternity of searching, you found your class room and walked inside. Everyone looked at you as you walked into the room, and you scanned the room for anyone that looked even a little familiar. Your gaze fixed on someone sitting in the back of the room. They ran their hand through their short black hair as they looked down at some books. For the first time in a few hours, you smiled and felt good about school.

"Nate!"

You said, running towards the person sitting in the back. Nate looked up at you and smiled. You hugged him and he hugged you back, but you both quickly let go.

"Try not to hug me too much, I don't want people making fun of us just yet. We're already gonna be laughed at for being nerds."

Nate said sarcastically. You laughed and he did too. You took a seat next to Nate and the teacher waked into the room. They began to talk about the class and what was going to happen this year. You just rolled your eyes, thinking that this year wouldn't be as great as the teacher thought. However, you still had faith in this school year. With Nate by your side, you knew that this school year would be at least a little fun. Nate had been your friend for as long as you could remember, you two were some of the only people in the school that had the same interests. While other girls were talking about makeup and boys, and all of the other boys talked about sports, you and Nate had conversations about video games and other things like that. You looked over at Nate who wasn't paying attention to what the teacher was saying, he was writing on a small piece of paper. You leaned closer to him, but he covered the paper with his hand before you could see it. Confused, you looked back at the front of the room. After what seemed like forever, the first period ended. You stood up and stretched as you grabbed your books and left the room, Nate following after you. You unfolded your schedule that you had been keeping with you and showed it to Nate.

"Do we have any other classes together?"

You said as Nate took out his schedule. You both compared what you had.

"Well, at least we have lunch together."

Nate said with a small laugh. You laughed too, but you were also a little disappointed that you two didn't have any more classes together.

"See you at lunch then."

You said, hugging Nate again. He hugged you back, this time it lasted longer. Nate placed a small slip of paper in your hand and his face turned slightly red.

"What's thi-"

"See ya!"

He said before you could finish what you were saying. Nate quickly walked down the hall to his next class. You watched him walk away until he disappeared into the sea of people. After he was completely out of sight, you unfolded the small paper. It had Nate's handwriting all over it. It said;

"Stay strong Y/n. High school's gonna be tough, but we're going to get through this together. See you later, I love you!"

You smiled and held onto the paper.

"I love you too, Nate."

You whispered to yourself, slipping the paper into your pocket as you walked to your next class.
