I Choose You

You walked over to the front door and grabbed the key out of your back pocket. Just before you opened it, you noticed a white piece of paper, folded and taped to the door. Confused, you picked it up and opened it.

"Hi there, it's Nate... I have a surprise for you. Go to the kitchen and open the 2nd drawer to the left."

"What the..."

You began to say, then shrugging as you walked over to the kitchen. You then proceeded to open the drawer. There was some forks, spoons, and another piece of paper, folded just like the last one. Once again, you reached in and opened it.

"So the game begins.... next, go to the bedroom."

You looked at the note, somewhat scared as you opened the bedroom door. However, Nate wasn't there. Instead, there was yet another note sitting on the bed. This one wasn't folded, it was just laying there. You glanced over at it.

"Go over to Rylo's crate, there's another note there."

You threw the other notes onto the bed and proceeded to walk over to the living room. You approached Rylo's bed. He was inside sleeping, but his eyes opened as soon as you walked near the crate. There was a note tapped to the bars of the crate.

"Okay next, pet Rylo for me please... he's a good boy. The next note is on the couch."

You rolled your eyes and laughed, gently petting Rylo on the head. Rylo wagged his tail and you smiled.

"Okay, next note."

You said to yourself, walking over to the other side of the living room. Sure enough, there was another note there. It read;

"Meet me at the place where we first met each other, I'll be waiting -Nate"

You grinned and grabbed your phone, then heading outside. You walked down the street and into a park, where you and Nate had first met. You had been playing pokemon go with some friends, and Nate was there playing as well. You both began to bond over the fact that you were on the same team, and that soon turned into pokemon talk in general, then video game talk, and then he asked you out. You scanned the park. The sun was still out, but there was only a few people. Finally, you saw Nate, leaning against a tree as he glanced at his phone. You walked over to him.

"Found you."

You said with a smile.

"So, why did you make me fin all of those notes?"

You said, holding the last note in front of his face.

"Before I tell you I have one question..."

Nate said, seriousness in his voice.

"What is it?"

Nate turned to face you, his dark brown eyes looking into yours.

"Did you pet Rylo?"

Nate said, all seriousness gone. You rolled your eyes and playfully punched Nate's arm.

"Of course I did you nerd."

You said with a laugh. Nate looked back at you.

"Okay all joking aside..."

Nate began to say.

"You know how we met playing pokemon go near this spot?"

You looked over at Nate.

"Yeah, why?"

You replied. Nate continued to speak.

"Well, we bonded through pokemon and other things that we love, and as soon as I met you I knew that I wanted to be with you for the rest of my life."

Nate stopped speaking and got down on one knee, reaching into his back pocket. Your face grew hot and you began to slightly shake. Nate took a small pokeball out of his pocket and opened it, revealing a ring inside.

"Y/n, I choose you... will you marry me?"

With your hands over your mouth, you nodded, unable to get actual words out. Nate closed the pokeball and smiled, wrapping his arms around you as he stood up. You hugged him back, trying to hold back some tears. You both let go of the hug and looked into each others eyes for a moment. Nate leaned in closer and you did as well, your lips touching soon after. The kiss felt like the longest one that you had ever had, and the best. You both pulled away and Nate's eyes met yours. He grinned, his arms still around your waist. You smiled as well, still in slight shock of everything that had just happened. Nate moved one of his arms to around your shoulders and you both began to walk back home, the sun setting behind you, a nice looking future ahead.
