You checked the time on the digital clock above the tv. 11:59, where was Nate? Every Saturday night was the same, he went out with some friends and you usually didn't see him again until the next morning. Even though you were only roomates, you still cared about his safety, and treated him like the really close friend that he was. Sure you liked him more than friends, but you could never tell him that. He didn't like you the same way, you just knew it. Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. After muting the tv, you walked towards the door. Slowly, you opened it, slightly backing away a little more every second, afraid of what you were going to face on the other side. One of Nate's friends, Brett, stood there. Nate was leaning against him, his eyes drowsy and almost falling off balance.
"Oh, hi Brett."
You said.
"Hey Y/n... I think Nate drank a little too much... can you take him from here?"
Brett said with a sigh. Your gaze fixed on Nate for a few seconds and then back to Brett.
"Yeah, I think I can handle it."
You said with a laugh. You wrapped one arm around Nate to keep him standing. He leaned against you, almost passed out.
"Okay great! Goodnight!"
Brett said to you before walking back to his car. You carefully closed the door with your one free hand and walked Nate over to the couch.
"Geez Nate how much did you drink?! You don't look too good."
You lay Nate on the couch and his eyes slowly opened.
"H-hi Y/n. D-don't worry, I'm f-fine."
He let out a few chuckles before closing his eyes again. Carefully, you sat back down on the couch and turned on the TV. Suddenly, Nate unexpectedly grabbed your arm. You glanced over at him and he just let out a large grin.
"Do ya wanna know a secret?"
Nate said as he ran his hand down your arm. The situation made you slightly uncomfortable, but you looked at him and smiled.
"Sure Nate."
Nate let out another laugh and looked you in the eyes. His dark brown gaze felt as if it could stare right through you. You shuffled in your seat, trying not to look too awkward.
"You're r-really pretty. I l-like you a LOT, like more than f-friends."
Your jaw dropped and your eyes widened.
"He doesn't mean it y/n... he's drunk."
You thought to yourself as you frantically tried to think of something to say. Nate's smile widened even more. He placed a finger on his lips.
"Shh... it's a secret okay? Don't tell ANYONE."
Nate said with a laugh. By now, your face was bright red. Slowly, Nate leaned in closer to your face. You tried to move away but it was too late, his lips touched yours. You and Nate stayed like that for a while, you were too shocked to back away. Finally, Nate stopped and just sat on the couch next to you.
"You promise to not tell anyone?"
He laughed once again and you couldn't help but laugh with him. You put your hand on his head and messed up is hair.
"Yep, you're secret's safe with me. I promise."
