(9 Years old, 4th Grade.)

"Nate, why is math so hardddd?"

You complained, pushing your homework to the side of the desk in your room.

"Come on Y/n, it's not that bad. I love math!"

You rolled your eyes and looked over at Nate, who was sitting down on your floor, throwing a small plastic ball at the wall over and over again.

"Why do you love it so much? It's tourtureee! Why don't you do this for me then?"

Nate looked up at you.

"Y/n, that's cheating."

"Yeah I guess you're right... I'm almost done anyway."

Quickly, you filled in the last two problems.

"Ok done! Let's go do something!"

Nate stood up and you did too.

"What do you wanna do?"

You said, heading downstairs.

"How about we just go outside for now and see what we can do."

Nate replied, walking towards the front door. You followed him and ran over to the swings in your backyard.

"I bet I can swing higher than you."

Nate said, an mischievous grin on his face as he ran over to one of the swings.

"I bet you can't!"

You yelled back to him, sitting on the other swing. You both began to swing higher and higher each second.

"I'm gonna beat you!"

"No you're not Nate!"

You replied, swinging as hard as you could. Before Nate could reply, you moved to the edge of the swing and jumped off, landing a few feet away. You confidently stood in place, your hands on your sides.

"Beat that!"

You said, looking at Nate, who was still trying to get the swing to go higher. Your feet stayed in the spot where you landed, marking how far you got. After a few more seconds, Nate jumped as well, landing on his feet a few inches away from yours.

"Ha! I beat youuuuu!"

You said, mocking him. Nate just stuck his tongue out at you and lay down on the grass. You walked over and fell to the ground next to him.

"What are you doing now?"

You said, holding your arms out in front of you, stretching.

"Just looking at the sky. I don't get it when people say that clouds look like people and stuff, to me they're just like giant white pieces of cotton candy."

Nate laughed and you did too.

"Yeah, I don't get it either...and now I want candy."

You both laughed again.

"So... what do you wanna do when you grow up?"

You asked, still looking up at the clouds.

"That's easy! I wanna be a mushi- a mucish- I don't remember how to say the word... but I wanna work with music. I want to have my own band and tour around the whole world! One day, I'm going to be the best singer in the universe!"

Nate threw his arms into the air.

"I bet you will. Wow, I'm going to be best friends with a famous person!"

You said, excited.

"Nate?"

"Yeah Y/n?"

"Can I go around the word with you? I think I wanna be a musi- whatever the word is too."

There was silence for a few seconds. The only sound was a gentle breeze going through the trees above.

"Yeah Y/n, that would be fun. One day, we're going to have our own band and have lots of money. Then we can buy a bunchhhhh of video games and candy!"

You laughed and Nate stood up.

"Race you back to my house!"

Nate yelled back to you, already running down the street.

"I'm gonna beat you again Nate!"

You said, chasing after him, determined to win. You began to run faster, almost passing Nate. As you looked up at the sky, you realized that the sun was about to start setting.

"Oh no, I probably have to go eat dinner soon."

You yelled, still running. Nate started to slightly slow down as he landed in his lawn. He tumbled to the ground.

"I win!"

He yelled, his voice muffled into the ground. You slowed down and stopped in front of him.

"Aw man! I'm gonna beat you tomorrow though!"

You said, looking back up the street.

"Bye Nate! See you tomorrow!"

You began to walk back up the sidewalk.

"Bye Pikachu!"

He yelled to you. You rolled your eyes again.

"See ya later Bulbasaur!"

You jokingly yelled back as you began to run back home.
