(3rd Grade, 8 Years Old.)

"You're going to have fun at school, don't worry Y/n."

Your mom said to you as you grabbed your backpack and headed out the door.

"I'm fine mom, I'm so excited!"

You said, happily running outside to catch the bus. It was your first day of third grade, and you were so excited to get to school. The bus eventually came and you got on. It made the same stops as last year, the same old routine. However, this time the bus stopped at one extra house. The house was only three houses down from yours, and you knew that no one had lived there for years. Confused, you looked out the window. There was a boy standing there, you had never seen him before. He had short black hair, and was wearing a pokemon t-shirt. He quietly got on the bus and sat down in the seat across from yours. He looked out the window and the bus continued to head to school. You stood up and moved to sit next to him.

"Hi, I haven't seen you before. I'm Y/n!"

You said. The boy turned around. He looked surprised that someone was talking to him.

"I'm Nate."

He said, fixing his hair.

"So, where did you come from? I've never seen you before."

You said, looking through the bus window.

"I just moved here from Germany. It's super far away from here, but it's cool!"

He said excitedly. You smiled at him. You and Nate continued to talk about your common interests and soon the bus got to school.

"Come on, let's go Nate! Don't worry, I've been going here since forever, I can show you all of the secrets!"

You laughed and grabbed Nate by the arm, pulling him towards the entrance of the school. Soon, you got to your classroom.

"I think this is my classroom too! Y/n we're gonna be together!"

Nate smiled at you and you smiled back.

"Yay! Come on, let's go!"

Nate walked into the classroom and you followed behind him. You both sat next to each other and listened to what the teacher had to say. However, you were waiting for one thing, recess. You hadn't had recess in so long and you wanted to go out onto the playground again so badly. Finally, class was dismissed and you excitedly headed for the door with your other classmates, Nate staying closest to you.

"Nate, this playground is so cool! It's got a slide, a bunch of climbing stuff.. umm... another slide.... trust me it's amazing!"

Nate just laughed and you both ran outside, the rest of the class following after you. You ran up one of the stairs leading to a small green slide. Nate climbed up too, and you went down the slide.

"Wee! Nate your turn!"

Nate slid down the slide as well and tumbled onto the ground, making both of you laugh.

"Y/n, let's play a game."

Nate suggested, thinking about what you both could do.

"Ok, what do you wanna play?"

You looked around as well, thinking of what you were going to do. Suddenly, Nate turned around to look at you, a smile on his face.

"Let's play pokemon, but in real life!"

You smiled and ran out into the small field next to the playground. Nate ran behind you, laughing.

"Ok, what pokemon do you want to be?"

You said, looking around at the field.

"Hmm... I'll be Bulbasaur, you can be Pikachu!"

"Ok!"

You replied. You and Nate ran through the field for a while, laughing and having fun.

"Bulbasaur used tackle!"

Nate yelled as he jumped onto you. It caught you off guard and you lost your balance, falling to the ground.

"Ouch Nate!"

You said laughing. Nate laughed too, and you both rolled around on the grass laughing. An evil grin covered your face.

"Pikachu used thunder shock."

You said, standing up.

"Pew pew pew! Zap Zap!"

You said, lightly punching Nate in the arm as he stood up as well.

"Ow you got me, oh no!"

Nate yelled, falling to the ground. He closed his eyes with his tongue sticking out.

"Ok kids, back inside, recess is over!"

Nate opened one eye and looked around. You turned to the teacher with a disappointed look on your face.

"Aw man, we were having so much fun!"

You complained, helping Nate back up.

"It's ok Y/n, we can play again tomorrow!"

Nate reassured you, walking back into the building next to you. After a few more minutes, the busses came to take you home. You and Nate got onto the bus and sat down.

"Today was so much fun!"

You said, swinging your feet back and fourth, your backpack on your lap.

"Yeah,"

Nate began to say.

"Hey Y/n, maybe when I move all of my things into my room we can hang out at my house!"

You smiled and looked at Nate.

"Sure! I love playdates! I wish we could hang out every single day Nate! You're my bestest friend in the whole world!"

You said. Nate smiled back at you.

"You're my best friend too Y/n, you're the coolest person ever!"

Finally, the bus arrived at your house.

"Bye bulbasaur!"

You jokingly said.

"Bye Pikachu!"

Nate said back. You both laughed and you stood up to get off of the bus. As you walked up your driveway, you looked back at the bus and looked to where Nate was sitting. He waved to you and you waved back. You both smiled and you walked back into your house.
