They're Only ➵ Chapter 18

Today is a girls day for me, and it's well needed. I need to get out of the house after what happened yesterday. When Tobias and I returned from the kitchen, Susan was gone and so were Caleb. Mom informed that Susan ran away when her father started scolding her, she ended up staying at a hotel with Caleb for the night. Mom was certainly pissed because Caleb never returned and we thought that something were to happen to him, eventually he called and Tobias and I cleaned the kitchen and ate dessert.

"I'm going to miss you," Tobias mutters as he places a warm kiss on my forehead. The boys are taking Tobias out for a day filled with food, roughhousing, and alcohol. They are going to the Pit, and then they are supposed to go paint-balling to relieve some stress. Susan isn't going to join us because she has her first doctor's appointment today and her mom, my mom, and Caleb are going to accompany her.

"I'm going to miss you too," I kiss his lips, "But, this is needed for the both of us." I pull away from his warm embrace to finish getting dressed. I place a large black t-shirt over my leggings and I put on my boots. I don't know how long the appointment is going to be with Susan, but I do know that she's joining us for dinner again. I really want to ask her how her family is treating her, how she is dealing with it. She was so happy before she got pregnant and now she is down, I want to make her happy and have that happy spirit that she once inherited. Maybe a talk between the two of us will brighten her mood.

Christina picks me up at exactly noon, a couple of minutes after Tobias left. We enjoy the ride together while we catch up on things and the latest news that goes on around Chicago. We pull up to one of the many spa's downtown: Allyu. It has an interesting Moroccan feel that hits you when you step foot on the wooden floor. The smell of Lavender and Jasmine fills my nose, leaving all of my stresses and worries at the door.

Shauna told me that she put a reservation in this morning under her name, so we don't have to wait. Our treatment is the Aquamarine with additional meal and mud bath. The Aquamarine is a sugar body polish with 50 minute massage, any 75 minute specialty facial (excluding Silver Ion facial), detox pedicure. I'm very excited, because with it being freezing here, the moisture from the treatment will leave my skin feeling refreshed.

"Ooh, fancy." Christina purses her lips a me as she puts a white robe around her nude body. I chuckle at her and follow her out of the dressing room along with the other girls. We both get a masseuse and they work wonders while we are in the mud bath.

"Last night was a crazy night for me." I shake my head, still getting used to the mud that encases my body. I feel my body relax for once and I let it, I let all my worries release into the air, "Susan came over for dinner with her family, and I trust you all enough not to blabber out at the mouth. But, she's pregnant." I tell my friends who gasp in shock.

"Susan? The one who used to drink hot chocolate with whipped cream to get wild?" Shauna gasps and I laugh at her exaggeration. Susan wasn't like that, but she definitely wasn't the wild card out of all of us, "I'm taking it that your brother is the father?" I let out a sigh and nod my head, sadly.

"Damn, you have every reason to be stressed. How are they going to get the job done?" Marlene asks, skimming her hand over the dark substance that sticks to our bodies, "That has to be tough with them still in college."

"I don't know, today, is their first appointment. Her family wasn't too proud, and I'm not sure if her parent's are going to allow her there with the baby. They may be selfless, but they are one to not break rules." I let out a sigh, leaning my head back on the warm towel, "All I know is that Caleb and Susan have to work hard to get money and get an apartment. I offered to help with the expenses of the appointments. It's a lot on the whole family."

"Well, what did your mom have to say about that?" Lynn pesters up from the corner of the tub.

"She was pretty angry, I was too. I'm assuming that he told me first, my mom is mad but I guess she's looking over that and focuses on the matter at hand. The baby." I sigh, within twenty more minutes we are rinsing off in the hot, steamed, shower. We get massages and then we meet up in the cute little cafe, where we indulge in delicious meals.

We are served a cellophane noodle and vegetable salad with sweet-and-sour sauce that went well with the crunchy vegetables. After that they gave us tofu and spinach wontons that I thought were going to have an acquired taste, but it was great and tasted amazing. Then we had mini egg-salad sandwiches that were just mouthwatering with alfalfa. To wash it all down, we had a refreshing lemon, honey, and mint infused passion fruit tea. We also nibbled on chocolate chip cooks at the end.

The food was so divine, that I couldn't help but to close my eyes during our last massage and fall asleep in a dark slumber, forgetting all my worries.
