I give the girls a tour of the house and then they help me set the table for our brunch. It's this great cafe downtown called Over-Easy, they sell breakfast, lunch, and dinner with everything in between. But, they specialize over breakfast food. I've been there twice and I had good experiences.
"We brought alcohol, and our share of the dishes for dinner tonight." Marlene says as we hear rustling in the kitchen, "It's going to be so much fun tonight and we will welcome in the new year, 2016." We all have a seat in the chairs while we wait for our men to join us in.
"We will be 20 this year." Lynn says with a smile reminiscing over the past year. So many things has happened in the year of 2015. Tobias and I have been together for 3 years, this year being 4. We've come so far and went through so many things that makes us stronger today, I know that the future holds many more complications but as long as we live in the now, we should be fine.
"21." Shauna pumps her fist as the boys walk into the dining room and have a seat, I sit in between Christina and Tobias with Tobias being at the head of the table and Matthew in front of me.
"Tris? Did you enjoy the dinner your first day here?" Will questions as he places a box of stacked pancakes on the table and we all start reaching for the fluffy goodness.
I nod my head at him as I look over all of the food, "It was amazing! I'm still on the high." I joke and he laughs. For brunch, our friends went out and got a lot since it's a lot of us. There are pancakes, omelets with basil pesto, sundried tomatoes, & smoked Gouda cheese, turkey bacon, smoked chicken sausage, toast, and fruit with vanilla yogurt, "This looks divine."
We all dig in, placing our food on our plates, "We must come back here together in the summer, that means we can swim in the lake." Shauna says with a mouthful of crunchy and fluffy pancakes, "I forgot to tell you that Susan and Caleb are coming down here, we were going to wait for him but we realized that he has to work." It's been a while since I've seen Susan and Caleb, her stomach might be bigger by now.
We dine on the delicious breakfast while laughing and talking about all of the mishaps of this Winter, and then Tobias and I take a shower while everyone watches television. I decide to put on some short spandex and a knee length sweater dress. My hair is in a ponytail and I have on knee length socks, "So, what exactly are we going to do for 13 hours together?" I question, sitting beside Matthew. Tobias sits beside me and pulls me close to him.
"I brought board games and alcohol, but no one is drinking until later tonight." Marlene gives Uriah, Zeke, and Tobias a pointed look making me chuckle.
I turn towards Matthew, "Can you even drink? Aren't you still on medication?"
"We don't want anyone passing out from a sip of beer." I just about turn around pinch the hell out of Tobias' nipple, but I refrain from doing so.
"I am out of the clear! It was a mild concussion and took me three days to get back to normal, I'm not going to go all out and take body shots. But, a beer or two would be. . . great." Christina and I both laugh at Matthew.
"This is what you guys miss, if you all went to school with us, you would leave in stitches."
Matthew chuckles slightly, "Like Shawn Mercedes."
"Mendes?" Will questions.
Uriah head perks up, "Mendes? That's what his last name is?" He leans back and reclines against the sofa, I have no choice but to sit here and listen to them argue about the teenage boy's last name, "I thought it was Mercedes."
"Same here." Matthew joins in.
"Why would you think it's Mercedes?"
"Why would you not?
"Okay, it's Mendes. No more talk about his last name. We're not going to talk about it."

For our 'lunch' we made homemade milkshakes, still being full from the delicious breakfast we ate this morning, and just as we are watching the beginning credits for The Purge: Election Year, the doorbell rings and I answer the door to see my brother and Susan on the other side of the door. I give them a smile and open the door for them, noticing the small flakes falling out of the sky, "Hi guys. I can't believe that it is snowing!" I grin and Susan and Caleb walks inside. They both take off their shoes and places them at the front, taking both of their jackets of, "Welcome, to our private house."
"It was hard to find it, you're really in the cut." Caleb complains as he hangs his and Susan's jacket on the hook at the front door, "But, Susan wanted some McDonald's, so that's what took so long." Caleb shivers in disgust as Susan chuckles and shakes her head. She pulls me into a hug and I pull away, looking at her appearance. She looks happier, more calm, but there is pain and hurt still behind her eyes. She has on a pair of gray slacks with a black t-shirt that fits slightly loose around her abdomen, her belly is still small but since she was always a stick, there is a pouch noticeable.
"How are you feeling?" I question, leading them to the kitchen, "Are you hungry?" Susan nods her head—surprisingly—and I give her a plate gesturing towards the fridge and she instantly goes there. This is totally rare for me to see because she was always the petite and shy girl, now she's eating more and taking up offers when she's hungry.
"Well, just the usual sicknesses and things like that. But, like the doctor said, I'm moving on quickly unlike most others. It's probably because of the youth of my body," She shrugs as she warms up some leftover pizza when Caleb leaves the room, "That's why I'm bigger, and was able to get symptoms quicker than most."
I sit on top of the counter and watch her devour the cheese pizza, making my stomach growl and I soon join her, "So, have you talked to your family?" I ask, after the small silence of eating our pizza.
She rolls her eyes and sadness washes over her face. I hope I didn't bring any bad memories up, the last thing I want to do is make get emotional and get upset, "Well, they don't talk to me as much. So when I do actually stay nights at my house, they don't say anything and I stay in my room eating pretzels until I fall asleep." She shakes her head, placing her plate on the countertop and dabs her napkin under her eyes and let's out a ragged sigh, "It just pains me to know that this might be my future now. . . my family wanting nothing to do with me or the baby, and your poor brother has to get it too. He doesn't deserve that."
"It's okay, accidents happen. It's how we respond that matters." I give her a soft smile, remembering all of Tobias and I incidents, yet we're still together. . . that's all that matters.
