Guardians 1: Ashes

Chapter 4: Powers

Adam's POV

We were finally going to start training. I could not wait. Red took us outside where we all sat in the grass in the back. It was really cool. Outside in the back there was a giant circle full of dirt. The river ran across the middle of it separating the sides. On each side there were two massive torches that you would see at the Olympics.

I smiled. Near there was a shed. I glanced inside and could see the glint of weapons and shields. My smile got bigger. Further away from the battle ground I could see training dummies.

"Can we fight!" I yelled not containing my
excitement.

Jin looked at me and Nick did too.

"You are acting childish." Jin said.

"Shut up ya nerd." I fired back.

Jin looked a little mad but I was sure he new it was a joke.

"Okay." Clapped Red. "Since Jin and Sky are already experienced fighters they will battle each other first." Red then looked at Shelby, Nick,Ross, and Cory. "Hmm. Ross are you willing to fight Shelby?" He asked.

"No way she is my cousin." Ross responded.

"Nick?" Questioned Red.

"Uhhhh, I know I'll probably win and I don't want to hurt her so I'm good." Nick said

"Hey!" Shelby said. "I'm not that weak."

Nick just gave her a big smile," Why don't you fight Cory. I bet he would love to." Nick said in his usual persuasive/lying voice.

Cory just sat there looking at me curiously. I wonder what he is thinking I asked my self.

"Okay it's settled Nick will fight Shelby and Ross will fight Cory." Red said.

"Aww come on I don't want to." Nick whined.

"What ever." Cory said then switched places with Nick so he was sitting next Shelby and Nick was next to Ross.

"Aww thanks Cory your the best." Nick said with a giant grin.

"You owe me." Cory said looking at him.

"I guess we are going by ages then." Red said looking at us all. "Okay now Jin Adam you are up.

I ran to the shed and grabbed a sword. I examined it, put it back then grabbed another one. I looked at this one smiled and said, "Budder." And walked out. Jin looked around. Then looked at the book he was still caring. He smiled and said," you are all I need." Tapping his book.

We both walked to the field and stood face to face. Then sparks flew up and I immediately attacked. I swung my sword so hard at Jin that when he casted a shield spell it threw me over the river and I landed hard on the ground.

"Sorry Adam!" Jin yelled. "You just surprised me. I thought you would take it slow."

I laughed as I got back to my feet. Then I swung again. Jin casted a spell that made these clear dragons fly in the air. I sliced through them with ease but then a fire ball flew at me. I jumped tucked and roled out the way. Moving so fast I was on my feet in no time. I threw a knife I had tucked in my belt at Jin. While that distracted him I ran he threw another fireball I ducked and swung my leg swinging his feet up right from under him. He landed on his back with a loud bang. I put my sword right against his chin standing over him and said,"Yield."

He pushed the sword out of his face. I let out my hand and he grabbed it pulling himslef up. He dusted himself off muttering something. Red then pointed to the the dummies and we started to practice there.
