Chapter 65: Beast's Claw

Uni's POV

Shelby came out of Cory's room, so I went in.

"How ya doing?" I asked with a gentle smile.

Cory said nothing, he didn't need to say anything for me to know he was frowning underneath his mask.

I looked at him with a raised eyebrow.

"Nothing bad, Shelby healed the wounds Ghetto gave to me."

"Than why do you seem upset?" I questioned.

"Cause I don't know if I can let go!" Cory said annoyed.

Rex came in, "What's wrong now?"

Cory huddled into a ball, he held his hands close to his chest.

"Hold out, your hand." I commanded and Cory reluctantly revealed a note that I had seen so many years prior.

I looked at it, then at him and smiled.
"You don't need this anymore."

Cory looked at the paper puzzled.

"It only holds bad memories, sad ones Cory. It's time to make some better ones, with them. With us." I said holding out my hand and I could tell Cory had a happy smile behind the mask.

It seemed as if a dark weight had been lifted, even if it was just for a moment, it was great.

"Y-you're right Uni, it is time to stop dwelling on the past." Cory said and set the paper with his mother's last words on a desk and left the room with us.

We talked and told jokes as we wandered the camp. It was beginning to feel like old times. But of course like everything, it was cut short.

Jin's POV

I did it! I finally was able to talk to my entity so I went to tell the others excitedly.

I saw Rex, Uni, and Cory talking so I decided to tell them first.

"Guys, guys, guys! I finally spoke with my entity."

"That's... great." Uni said with a smile, slightly glancing at Cory.

"You don't understand, I can now expand my abilities even further!" I announced with great pride.

"That's great, but we were kinda having a moment." Rex said with annoyance in his voice.

"No time for feelings. I have a plan to go along with our new allies. I still can't summon my entity like Cory does, I think it's a last line of defense or something, but I have an attack plan." I said waving my hands in the air to grab their attention.

"Kay, what is it?" Cory said.

"Ya know that attack you did to that base, you attacked inside out right?"

Cory uncomfortably shuffled around, "Yeah."

"Well that is what Tommy and Ashlie will do, Tommy can drive insanity inward out, while Ashlie duplicates herself and attacks. We can easily over power them sense they will be hit from the inside."

"And I guess if we want to double the hit, Cory and Mitch can shadow jump inside as well. Cory can summon a bunch of those skeleton things to stop some people and Mitch can set everything ablaze." Uni added to my plan.

"Uni you know the layout more than anyone, you should go with them to hit the strong points first." Rex said with a nod.

Uni looked at Cory and nodded with an it's gonna be okay smile and Cory seemed to relax.

"So it's settled then, Mitch, Cory, and Uni attack inside the place with Ashlie and Tommy." I said and the three nodded at me.

"We should call a meeting to decide when to attack." Uni added in.
