Chapter 46: Attire

Ross' POV

After the accident I heard about, I didn't feel safe around Cory. He was a wild card and I tried to hide my fear. Shelby still told me about one of his dreams, she said something  about a smiley mask kid, and his parents turning to dust, oh and you can't forget about the kingdom being under attack. I thought it was anxiety, so that is what I told Shelby.

Though, noticing how Sky reacted when I later told him, he seemed more serious. He was completely devoted to my story.

After he just nodded and continued on with his work.
"So... How is the case coming along?" I asked.

"Fine Ross." He said annoyed." Sorry, it's just weird what you told me about Cory's dream."

"What is weird?" I asked now interested.

"You described 3 people in Cory's dream, 3 teenagers to be exact... The exact same 3 that are confirmed living by Uni and Rex along with a couple others." Adam said with his nose in files.

"So what does that mean?" I asked.

"I have no idea, must be some coincidence." Adam said trying to make sense of it.

"No way, Cory didn't even know who these people were, Shelby said so." I said in protest.

"But he did know one of them, Tommy. Uni said he was a childhood friend, went missing though." Adam said and it began to make sense to me.

I nodded slowly, " Hey, take a break, the ceremony is tomorrow."

"Can't, the sooner the ceremony, the sooner we leave." Adam said.

"But it is celebrated for 4 days straight." I whined.

"Exactly, four days of absolute nonsense, the guards will be stretched thin, and I have to be out their dancing and having 'fun' so the people feel safe and relax." Adam grumbled.

"Just try to actually have fun, I mean real fun, not staged, but actual fun with everyone." I said and walked out the room.

I saw Cory who was aimlessly walking through the halls like usual. Him and Uni haven't been talking, and it was kinda upsetting to watch.

They were practically brothers along with Rex and Nick. And seeing them so torn apart with one another was just really hard to watch.

Cory looked at me, then went back to pacing around. I nervously laughed and he looked at me in confusion.

"Is their something funny?" He said looking at me dead in the eye, but the tone of his voice was more of a joking manner so I realised he was only joking, not meaning to do any harm.

I smiled at him and shook my head.
He went back to pacing so I walked away.

I had began to get bored and tired. I wanted to sleep, but had a sinking feeling that if I did, I would never wake up... anxiety.

I was just scared because the festival was finally tomorrow, maybe that is why Cory was pacing so much. I sighed

"What am I even supposed to say? Do I have to say something?" I started to ask myself.

Then I heard a knock on my door.
"Come in." I said.

Surprisingly, it was Nick.

"Hi Ross." He said and sat on my bed.

"Umm, hi." I said.

"Sorry to intrude, but I just really need someone to talk to. Uni and Rex have been upset with Cory lately and I know I can't pick a side, and Cory has just seemed a little out of it. Ya know, like he has been acting paranoid." Nick told me scratching his head.
