Chapter 26: Skelton

Shelby's POV

I was walking next to Cory. I didn't know why I was so concerened. I didn't know why I had broken down crying when him and Uni fell over the cliff. I didn't know why I cared so much. It was weird. I didn't know what came over me. I didn't know why I had kissed him on the cheek. That was really awkward. Now I walked beside him.

I knew if I pestered him to much, he would send me on my way but it was worth the risk. After all, talking always worked better then fighting. A smile popped up on my face.

"What are you grinning about?" Cory asked me.

I was tempted to pull off his mask. It was hard to wonder what he was thinking, or the way he meant something with out a face expression. I just continued walking though humming a little toon.

Cory then looked at me awkwardly. Then I noticed his black necklace start to glow. He kept walking though, but I could tell his mind was somewhere else.

"No." Cory whispered.

"What?" I asked.

"I don't want to." Cory mummbled.

"No, I dont. NO I Don't." Cory said more stern.

"Are you okay?" I asked.

Cory snapped back into reallitlty.

"Yeah, I'm fine. I told you, I haven't gotten a good night sleep." He said with a smile. A smile I saw right through.

"Seriously, are you alright?" I said this time more stern.

Cory's smile disappeared.

"You're gonna think I'm crazy." Cory said.

"What?" I asked.

"I've been hearing this weird voice in my head, telling me to do these... weird things." Cory said.

"Like what?" I asked.

"Like... kill you all." Cory said really rushed I could barely tell what he had said.

"That doesn't sound to nice." I said poking his head.

"Yea it doesn't that is why I have been ignoring it. All though I have been considering it for some people." Cory said flashing me a devilish grin.

"Uhh noo." I said then began to walk faster.

Cory laughed a real genuine laugh as I went ahead of him. After walking and talking some more, the woods came to an end and we were faced with open field. We looked out at the field. It was filled with people fighting. I slowly backed up but Cory grabbed me by the shoulder and pushed me ahead of him.

"Ladies first." He whispered as he pushed me into the clearing following close behind. Everyone became battle ready except me. Everyone had drew out their swords and were  ready for an attack. I stayed close to Cory. I had a feeling he would have my back. He kept glancing back at me as if making sure I was still behind him, which made me more comfortable.

Somewhere we heard someone yell, then people began to fly up into the air. A dark monster was ramming into people trampling them. Alex immediately stood her ground, and as the entity got closer, her necklace and one purple eye glew brighter. We could tell the entity began to slow down, then came to a hault. And turned around and walked away.

We saw an eagle pick people up from the ground and lift them high up in the air them dropped them. All of this was going on while we began to fight our way through the ranks. The warriors in red began to attack us and we began to fight back. Or at least they began to fight back. Adam would send them flying up into the air. Nick would shoot icicles at them, and Ross would simply barrie them knee deep in the dirt so no killing was involved.
But when I looked at Uni, Rex , and Cory fighting. They were hacking away at people. They sliced through them with no remorse or regrets. When Cory was about to swing his sword down on someone I foolishly ran in between the blade and the person. Cory stopped himself before hitting me with his sword. The person I stood in front of had different plans though. They kicked me in the leg causing me to stumble, but then grabbed me and put a knife up to my neck. Cory reacted quickly and sliced at the man's hand and as he let go I moved out the way and Cory jabbed him right in the stomach with the sword.

"You.. n-never... l-learn." Cory said panting.

"Y-you killed him." I said trying to hold back my tears.

"Either them, or you." Cory said blandly, almost emotionless. Then he threw his knife at me, it hit someone in the leg behind me. Cory then ran up to the person and quickly slashed at the man's chest killing him.

I glanced at Cory and saw someone else completely. I saw a killer who wasn't afraid of dieing.

As they fought I stopped Cory over and over again from killing people, I must have stopped Cory about 24 times already. He complained, but eventually he would spare most of them.

Everyone began to tire out. We were all loosing energy, when the eagle which was flying overhead came flying down and grabbed Uni out of the air. Uni yelled.

"Hey!" Adam yelled. "Put him down."

"Yea, no one is going to kill him except me!" Cory yelled, then lifted his hand up in the air. The ground shook and white boney hands came out of the dirt. It grabbed some of the Prodótis' Knights and dragged them underground. Some rose to full hight revealing a skeleton wearing rusted armor. They all carried weapons, some bows, others had axes and swords. The skeletons charged into battle and began to pick off the Prodótis' Knights one by one.

Cory began to wiggle in place and I could tell he used up way to much energy. On the other hand, he probably just saved the hole Nero kingdom. The eagle then came flying down straight at Cory with Uni still in its talon. Cory brought up his sword, but then the eagle began to change into a person.

Cory put his sword down and before him stood Jerome, and Uni was on the ground.

"Hey buddy, how's it going?" Jerome said with a big smile.
