Chapter 33: Family

Shelby's POV

Adam had called for all of us to meet at the library. When I got their, Nick, Jin, Adam, Ross, and Alex were already their. I sat down next to Ross and he smiled at me.

We waited a bit, and Uni,Cory, and Rex came in. We greeted them then sat down. Cory sat next to me and Rex beside him. I saw Rex wink at Cory, and Cory nodded.

"So, I called everyone here to discuss something. As you know, the Founding Festival of Kalá is coming up, and then is the time where every 100 years or so, the new Guardians are announced. Their was a little disagreement, but we finally decided, that we will be going."

"Finally a break." Cory said.

"I agree." Rex said.

"I'm not going." Alex spoke up. Half of the time, I forgot she was even their.

"Why not?" I asked.

"Because I'm not a Guardian of Kalá, and besides, the enemy still doesn't know I am with you so, I plan on keeping it that way until needed." Alex said.

"Understandable." Jin said.

"That's fine, you can stay here and help defend and take on patrol duties while we are away." Adam said.

"Wait!" Cory yelled. "Does that mean I have to shadow jump all of you?"

"Oh that is gonna hurt." Nick commented.

"I can still help with that if you need me to." Alex said.

Cory sighed "Thanks."

"What if they execute Cory?" Uni said.

"What!" Cory asked.

"You didn't exactly have a squeaky clean reputation." Rex said.

"That would suck." Ross said.

"I'm sure Cory will be fine. A letter has already been sent, and by now, all his crimes have probably been wiped. And he could always just take the mask off, it's not like anyone new the guy under the mask." Adam said to reassure them.

"No thank you. This is staying on from now on." He tapped his mask.

"I have a question." Jin spoke up. "Did anyone else completely forget Cory's actual
face?"

Everyone mumbled in agreement except for Uni, Rex, and Nick.

"Anyways off of topic Jin, so the festival should be in about two weeks. We will be leaving earlier to speak to the king." Adam said.

"Oh you're dead Cory." Uni said laughing.

"Speak for yourself, you were a knight for the enemy." Cory said.

"To shay." Uni relpied.

"Will their be cake?" Ross asked.

"Uhh, if you want Ross." Adam said.

"Yes." Ross said with a little grin.

"Uhh." Adam scratched his head. "That is really all I wanted to tell you. But for now, there will be patrol duties. Shelby and Ross you get morning shift, Nick and Rex you get afternoon, and Cory and Uni will get night.

Jin will be helping in the battle plans with me, Mitch, and Deadlox. Ghetto and Jerome will be given shifts too." Adam said.

"Sounds nice, it's not like I sleep anyways." Cory sighed.

"I'm not much of a morning person." Ross said.

"It will be okay Ross. I'll wake you up." I said with a smile.
