Chapter 2: Grand OakTree

Adam's POV

I was still upset about not catching that camera masked thief but this adventure was just what I needed to get that off my mind. I continued walking a torch in my hand. Joining me was my friend Jin.

We looked at each other and smiled as we headed deeper into the unknown.

Every once in a while we will here rustling in some bushes. I would turn but nothing would ever be there. I looked at my map. I brought my torch closer trying to get the best lighting I could. " I believe we are here." I point to the map." We just need to continue going forward and we will hit a river. In the middle of the river there will be and island with the tree."

"Great." Says Jin as we continue onward. I could here the faint sound of water.

Cory's POV

I put on my necklace the same time Nick put on his. Nick's necklace glowed a sea green. Then mine started to glow. Black filled the room engulfing the sea green light. It slowly dimmed.

"That was something." Nick said." I swear Cory where ever we are going there better be some bottle caps"he said.

I just grabbed the stuff on my bed and shoved it in my bag. I grabbed some clothes and Nick did as well. I the grabbed my mask which was still on my bed. I looked at it for a bit. "Well let's head out I "say as I jumped out the window onto the balcony and then jumped to the roof on the next building.

Nick was close behind but almost fell jumping roof to roof. I counted 18 as Nick stumbled to the next roof and started to slide off. I slid and grab him while shoving my feet in the rain gutter so we both wouldn't fall. I managed to pull him up and say" Gosh Nick you have been eating to much."

This was the last roof we were at the edge of the forget I carefully helped Nick down and we headed into the woods.

We ran and ran and ran. Knowing what ever was in there was a far better life then what was behind us. I knew the tree was in the center of the forest if we headed straight we would end up finding it. I glanced at Nick who carefully ran trying not to fall on his face in the darkness. I could see fine but he couldn't I knew I had to watch his back. We have to stay close.

We didn't stop. We didn't want to. We just kept on going until I could hear roaring water. I smile.

" Nick across this river is the tree." I said.

"Yea I know Cory but how will we get across?" Nick said

"Hand me your bag."I say.

Nick followed my directions and I threw both our bags across the river. I thought since Nick can't see in the dark well he wouldn't know how far to throw so I figured I should.

"We will settle this through rock paper scissors." I say who ever looses out of three will carry the other across on their back." I state.

"Okay Cory but you will loose." Nick says. His voice always sounds like he is lying or is trying to persuade someone. I wondered why.

We yell " Rock Paper Scissors" in unison I lost. We did it again. I won. Then again Nick won and said" best two out of three."

I grumble as Nick jumped on my back and then climbed on my shoulders. "Seriously dude I saved your butt 18 times on that roof." I grumbled.

"What was that?" Nick said as he pulled my hair.

I walked into the river. It was up to my waste. It was a tough current and my foot slipped on a rock underneath me causing me and Nick to crash and burn. I crawled to land dragging Nick with me who didn't seem to have a drop on him.
