Chapter 30: Breakfast

Nick's POV

I was the third to wake up. Cory and Adam were up already and were running around outside.

"What are you guys up to?" I asked.

"Can't catch... Adam." Cory said out of breath.

"Why do you want Adam?" I questioned.

"I need to tell him something...but he wants me to help with his morning exercises and I refused." Cory said panting still.

"Well it looks like you are helping him." I replied.

"Seriously!" Cory shouted and looked at Adam who was about 10 feet away, and slowly walking to us.

"Okay, what do you want nerd?" Adam said very loudly.

"I wanted to tell you, that I told Shelby..." Cory said.

"Told her what Cory?" I asked.

"Told her about, ya know..." He responded.

"You actually did?" Adam asked. "With your own free will."

"Yup, she seemed very worried when Nick had his panic attack, and somebody said something about kidnapping." Cory said looking at me straight in the eyes.

Adam laughed,"Rest in peace Mr.Whiskers."

"What?" Cory said.

"I didn't blurt it out, it was Uni's fault!" I whined.

"Anyways if Shelby comes asking more dumb questions, you know why." Cory said.

"Did you tell her about your parents too?" I asked.

"Of course not, I didn't even tell air head here about them." Cory said while pointing at Adam.

"Hey!" Adam yelled. "So wait, she knows you guys are sad little orphans too."

"I'm not an orphan!" I shouted.

"Yea and do me, Uni, and Rex seem sad?" Cory yelled.

"Okay, mad little orphans." Adam said correcting himself.

"Ugh, what ever." Cory said. Then sat down.

I sat down next to him with a sigh. Adam looked at us.

"Oh did you show her your messed up face!?" Adam said with a grin.

"It's not that messed up." Cory yelled.

"Yea, it's really just one scar." I added in.

"It would have been cooler if it was covering your eye." Adam said with a grin.

"Well I'm sorry I didn't say; Excuse me sir,can you please cut open my face on the eye so I could look cool!!" Cory shouted.

He than ripped off his mask and threw it at Adam and walked away.

"Did I... do something." Adam asked.

I sighed, "I don't think any of us have been doing to well. And ya know, truthfully Cory gets really upset when talking about his parents or about what happened to us. So it is surprising he told Shelby about it."

"I should probaly give this back to him, shouldn't I?" Adam said and held up Cory's  mask.

"Probably." I answered.

Jin's POV

I woke up and was headed outside. I saw someone who was wearing Cory's clothes, but was not wearing the familiar camera mask.
He walked by me grumpily.

"Cory?" I asked.

"What?" He responded.

The person had Cory's voice too.

"Where is your... mask?" I asked in a small voice.

"Adam." He said with a scowl.
I just nodded and walked away leaving Cory in the hall way.

I saw Nick outside who was sitting by himself, and Adam was walking away. I approached Nick.

"Why isn't Cory wearing his mask?" I asked.

"Adam got him mad so he threw it at him. At least he didn't throw his knife." Nick said with a sigh.

I nodded. "You wanna join me, and get some food."

"Sure, as long as they are serving mushroom stew, that reminds me, I need to get some marshmallows off of Ghetto." Nick relpied standing up. We then walked to the dinning hall, and grabbed some plates of food.

Nick was disappointed when they didn't have mushroom stew, but grabbed a stack of pancakes instead. We than saw Ross heading to the dining hall on our way back. He looked very tired and was carrying around a chicken plushie. Nick laughed at that, but we continued walking. We got to one of the tables outside and sat down.

Nick was chugging down a cup of milk when Cory came up behind him and body slammed him, causing Nick to spill his milk on himself.

"Cory! That wasn't very nice." Nick said with a small grin. Cory than sat down with us and Shelby followed up behind him.

"You can have my milk." Shelby said then handed Nick her cup. Nick took it gratefully.

We sat their in awkward silence for a while.

"Sooooo." Shelby said.

"So." Nick repeated.

Cory and I exchanged glances.

"Just ask what ever you need to Shelby." Nick said.

"If Cory, Uni, and Rex are orphans, where are your parents?" Shelby said all at once.

"Funny thing you asked. They are well known buisness people or merchants. My dad likes to make things, and my mom will help him sell the items he created. Or they will just travel and sell things. When I was born, they decided to settle down, but they would tell me stories of all the places they have been. And I plan to follow in their foot steps and become a merchant too." Nick said with a big grin.

"Wait, you're an orphan Cory?" I asked.

"Yea, fun." He said as he shoved some waffles in his mouth.

"What, happened to your-"

Nick cut me off. "He never speaks of what happened to his parents, same goes for Uni and Rex." 

I nodded, "I can respect that. So how did you get that cut on your face?" I asked.

"I fell out of a tree." Cory said.

"A big tree." Nick added.

Shelby raised her eyebrow. Watching her do that made me believe they weren't telling the truth, but if they didn't want me to know, then so be it.

I ate some more of my french toast. Uni and Rex came when we were almost done eating. They looked at Cory, then looked at the others, then looked at Cory again.

"Uhh, Cory, I think you may have forgotten something." Uni said.

"Adam took my mask." Cory said grumpily.

"Correction, you threw it at him." Nick said laughing.

"Same thing." Cory whined.

Uni and Rex then sat down and began to eat with us, not to long after they came, Ross showed up with some cereal. He looked at Cory.

"Nice face." Ross said loudly.

"Thanks?" Cory said then began to drink his milk.

Ross nodded then slurrped some of his cereal.
