Shelby's POV

I went after Cory. I didn't really know how to explain, and I didn't know if he wanted me to tell them he was an orphan. Cory didn't seem to be the type to appreciate others pitty. I found him alone in a meadow surrounded by golden flowers.

"What cha doing crybaby?" I asked jokingly.

Cory wiped his face and began to put his Mask on.

"I didn't actually mean it... I didn't know you were actually crying." I said feeling a sense of regret.

Cory just sat there in silence staring at a golden flower.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"I thought I could handle it, but... just seeing them with their family, seeing their mom so happy to see them again... I don't know." Cory said in frustration flopping on his back crushing a bunch of golden flowers.

"You are upset, I get it. You miss your parents. Seeing the others with there parents makes you miss them more." I said looking at Cory.

Cory then picked a golden flower and sat up." I use to come here with them... we picked flowers like this often." He handed me the flower gently and laughed." Just don't eat them, learned that the hard way... they are poisoness."

I looked at the beautiful flower wondering how something so nice could be so bad. Than I looked at Cory who had his head in  his arms and was covering his mouth. I put my arm around him and patted his back.

We sat there in silence for a while watching the sun rise make the flowers look like a golden river dancing in the sun.

I looked at Cory and slowly lifted my hand up to his  face. And then proceeded to gently take off his mask. His eyes were a little red from crying.

"Are you done now?" I asked.

"I'm not crying!" Cory whined gently nudging me with his foot.

I laughed at him.

"It's not funny!" He whined. "It's serious!"
I continued to hold back my laughter but failed.

"You know what, why don't you just eat the stupid flower!" He yelled and got up.

"Cory?" I whined. He turned around then snapped his fingers.
"My mask." He then knelt down in front of me and took the mask from my lap. Before he could walk away I grabbed him by the shirt and pulled him.
"I'm sorry." I said.

He then sat down beside me accepting my apology. "Uni and Rex didn't want to come because they new watching them would just be a reminder." He mumbled very quietly.
I just sighed.
"Why didn't you want to see your parents?" Cory asked me.
"Trust me, they will see me soon enough, and I guess I just like the freedom for once." I answered.

"Don't you think they would flip. Hey your kid is going to fight in a war with magical powers that only seem to heal and make forcefields." Cory said making his voice deeper as if he was an announcer.

I laughed. "What were your parents like?"

Cory made a long pause then spoke... "After all this time... I don't really remember." He chuckled at the thought.
"Pretty sure the same goes for Uni then. But... maybe Rex remembers his." Cory said to himself. He then shrugged and laid back down.

I laid down too and we watched the sky and the clouds slowly change colors.

"Imagine getting stuck in a hole, and never seeing the sky again." I said out loud.

"That is random, and if I was in that position, I would do anything to get out of that hole." Cory said.

"Even kill?" I asked.
