Chapter 13: Assumptions

Cory's POV

I couldn't believe my old two friends Uni, and ARG were alive. We sat their and talked. They told me about what happened after they had left, I told them about what happened to me and Nick after they were taken. Adam stayed in the room listening intently. He nodded as we spoke.

Yeah he pushed me to tell him, but everyone needs a push some times even a punch I thought. Some guy wearing a tie came in.

"Hey guys it's time for you to join us at the guild. It's getting late, and curfews are curfews." He said with a smile.

"Thats Jerome. Guardian of Nero user of, well shape-shifting I guess." Adam said. We followed them out leaving Uni and ARG behind. Nick and I had a permanent grin on our face as we went to the guild. Jerome and the guy named Mitch settled us down with some sleeping bags. Nick was talking to some guy about peaches. And Adam looked very interested in a red eyed kid, what ever he was saying, it had Adam deep in thought. I wanted to hate Adam, but it was hard to. He had after all showed me Uni and ARG two really good friends I had were alive. But he also found out stuff that he shouldn't have. It took years to hide it and now it was back, because of him.

But I guess he still didn't know how they died. Shelby then sat down next to me.

"Hi." She said.

"Hi." I shrugged. "Need something?" I asked.

"No not really." She responded.

Their was an awkward silence as she sat their.

"Why do you-" She began to say.

On instinct I got up and started to walk away. I left the guild room behind and kept walking. I thought for a second then turned and started to head to the infirmary. Shelby then ran up next to me." Why are you following me?" I asked.

"Why do you keep dodging the question." Shelby countered.

"You can't answer a question with a question when you are complaining about me dodging them." I said blandly and started to walk faster. She grunted then chased after me again.

"Can you please just stop and listen. I just want to help." Shelby pleaded.

"You can help by stop shoving your nose in everyone's buisness." I yelled.

She looked at me hurt for a second but that pain turned to anger real quickly. Her necklace began to glow white. Then a white flash went off and I was thrown backwords with a loud thud.

Apparently Adam was watching because when I stood up looking probably really angry he grabbed my shoulder and turned me around. He started then to push me away, and I let him. We went inside the infirmary he stopped me in the hallway.

"What the heck was that about." He yelled.

"She keeps asking the same questions. It's none of her buisness why should I tell anyone. You weren't even supposed to know." I yelled back at him while pointing out the door and back at him.

"It would be much easier for everyone if you just told the truth for once!" Adam yelled at me.

"I have been telling the truth I just haven't said anything about the past! Your the one who dug his snobby nose into someone else's past." I yelled "Now you have to hush up, or consider your self a dead man." I muttered under my breath. Adam looked at me in a very surprised way.

"Why is it even such a big deal?" He asked in a very gentle or worried voice.

I stopped and thought for a moment. Why I asked myself. I calmed down and said," I guess I just really don't like thinking about it. But now that they are back i-it just makes me... I don't know." I stopped while I was ahead.

"You feel lost don't you?" Adam asked me and put a hand on my back patting me.

"Yeah... I guess I do." I replied and looked up at him. "Thanks." I said then walked into the infirmary room, Uni and ARG are in.

Ross' POV

I was laying down in the guild room when Shelby came in. The others had left except Jin who was in the corner with a book. Mitch and Jerome were on patrol. Deadlox, was outside trying to organize the divisions. Nick and Ghetto had left to the kitchen, something about peaches and mushrooms.
Cory, Shelby, and Adam went outside but Shelby was back after 10 minutes.

"Hey Shelby, you want to see a cool trick I learned to do with my glasses?" I asked.

"Not right now Ross." She whined.

"But it's Ross time." I whined back. Shelby jumped on the couch face first shoving her face into a pillow. I got up and laid on the table near the couch.

"Get off the table Ross." Jin commanded.

"Naa." I said. "Shelby what happened?" I asked still on the table.

"I think I heard something I wasn't suppose to." Shelby answered.

"Eww gross." I said.

"Not like that Ross!" Shelby said laughing and threw a pillow at me.

"I followed Cory and Adam to the infirmary  and I heard Adam and Cory talking about Cory lying or something. Cory was complaining that Adam was snooping to much. And then after a while they made up and Adam left." Shelby said, then I interrupted.

"So your saying Adam can't be trusted." I said rubbing my chin and making my eyes go into two different directions on purpose.

Shelby laughed, "No Ross let me finish." She then continued. "After Cory went into a room I heard laughing from two other people. It seemed they both were guys who were in their. They were talking about how they use to play tag, and different games, they even talked about one called murder but when that was brought up, it went silent. But then someone said, "Stab stab" and they started laughing again. Then Cory said something like," Uni you would kill me every time even when I wasn't the murderer." And they all started laughing again." Shelby then finished.

"So you are saying Cory has friends, big deal." I said loosing interest.

"No but what about what Cory had said about Adam ealrlier. About Adam snooping through the past."she said. "Think about it, we can find answers."

"If this will help your obsession then yes. I will go with you." I said. And she led me to the infirmary. She pointed at the door, but there were guards protecting it. Shelby then approached them and I cautiously stayed behind her.

"Uhhhh. Can we go in?" Shelby asked.

"Nope." A red eyed kid responded and I realised it was Deadlox.

"Please Deadlox." I asked him.

"Nope." He said again.

"Well we tried." I said and turned around trying to leave. Shelby quickly grabbed the back of my shirt and stopped me from going.

"Who is in there?" Shelby asked.

"2 warriors from the kingdom of Prodótis. We were stationed here to make sure they didn't get out." Deadlox responded.

"Why can Cory go inside then." Shelby asked.

"Have you been spying? Anyways, Adam was the one who brought them in, so he decides who goes in and out, and you are none of the three." Deadlox responded.

"Three?" I asked.

"Yes, your not Adam, Cory, or Nick so you can't go in." Deadlox said annoyed and started to push us out the door. It slammed behind us.

"Well that sucked." I said. Shelby was deep in thought then looked up. "Cory and Nick are from the kingdom of Prodótis." she said with a gasp. " That explains why they have friends from their, and why they don't talk about there child hood." Shelby said looking pleased with herself.

"What ever makes you happy Shelby." I replied.

I went to bed later in the cabins. I didn't share a cabin, I was alone and I hated it. I knew I couldn't go to Shelby's cabin, because Alex would be there too, and she would think I was creepy. Jin and Adam obviously shared a cabin, and Nick and Cory shared one too, but I never saw them go in. I stayed up late, trying to force my self to sleep but it wasn't working. After it was early in the morning my eyes finally shut and I drifted off to a deep sleep.
