Chapter 16: Team

Cory's POV

I woke up in the infirmary. I was laying in the usual bed I got. It kinda became 'my' bed in a way. Across from me was Alex. She looked like she had just woken up too.

"Hi." I said with a grin.

She smirked back and fittled with her bracelet. "I think we used to much magic."

"Probably." I said then got up. Alex then pointed to something, I looked and saw my mask on the table. I quickly grabbed it and put it back on.

"You didn't see anything." I hissed.

She nodded with a grin but yet serious at the same time. She then got up too.

"Don't worry, I'm pretty sure it was Nick who probably took your mask off, and you don't exactly get visitors." She said. Then we both walked out the room together. Red went to us first.

"It is an honor to meet you." Red said looking at Alex. Alex then looked at me confused. I just shrugged. "With you on our side we may be able to win this war, we have no time to waste our training must begin at once!" Red said with a clap.

"Wait wait wait." Barney interrupted. "This is a big moment. Death and darkness side by side." Barney said with a massive smile.

"Oh yay." Me and Alex both mumbled. Red then ushered us outside. There we saw everyone sitting down except for Adam, who was smacking one of the dummies with the hilt of his sword.

Alex's eyes lit up and she ran to the weapon's shed. She came out with two swords. She tossed one at my side. I grabbed it and gave her a big grin. I then ran at her swinging hard. As I swung down at her, she vanished. I then felt a jab in my back. She had teleported behind me and elbowed me.

I then tucked down, and spiraled upward kicking my leg out tripping her. She started to fall, but before she could hit the ground she was gone. Soon, she was falling on top of me, swinging her sword straight down at me. I jumped out the way counter attacking with a couple of swings.

"Stop!" Red yelled while me and Alex were mid clash. "We are doing team battles today." He then looked at us. Cory, Alex, and Adam, you are a team. Shelby, Nick, and Jin, you are a team. Once Rex's leg heals, him and Uni will be participating too, with Ross. Now everyone choose a side." We did, Adam had obviously chose to fight Jin, he was standing across from him. Alex was standing across from Nick, and I was standing across from Shelby. I would expect the two girls to duke it out, but I guess this would be fine. Sparks lit up the training ground and Alex immediately teleported in front of Nick and swung her sword at him. Nick blasted her with water making her fall backwards. I then swung at Shelby.

Her stupid forcefield came up. I smacked it hard, but nothing happened, just a wave of light came out off it. From the corner of my eye, I saw Alex teleporting as Nick tried to shoot... Icicles at her. Nick learned how to change the water into Icicles and now giant ice spikes were aiming at Alex, but she was able teleport out the way. That gave me an idea. I looked at Shelby's forcefield and saw her own shadow in it. I ran to a tree and vanished into darkness. I came out of Shelby's shadow with a grin. I grabbed her arm and I could feel me stealing her energy and power. Then her necklace started to glow brighter and I was sent hurling backwards right into Jin. I landed on my back on top of Jin. Alex looked over and gave me a nod, then slid a gaze towards Nick. I nodded back and got off of Jin and charged at Nick. As soon as I was behind Alex, she teleported and I slammed straight into Nick. Alex had teleported inside Shelby's forecfield. And Shelby was panicing.

Narrator

Now a battle of Death and Life, has turned to a battle of Life and Darkness. Shelby as always refused to fight. Though her attacker Alex, fought mercilessly. Alex swung and Shelby made her forcefield smaller. White beams of energy would come from the forcefield every so often. But the Darkness consumed the light. After all, you can not have one with out the other,where there is darkness, there is light, and where there is light, there will always be darkness. What they didn't know, is the darkness was coming much sooner then they expected.
