"Mommy! When's dad gonna be home!" You heard your 5 year old daughter, Jessica, ask from the living room. You placed the last container of leftovers in the fridge before walking into the living room and picking her up. "I'm sure it'll be soon. Why don't you go get dressed in your pjs and Lay down. I'm sure daddy will be home by then." She squirmed in your arms and you let her down before watching her run up the stairs. You sighed and cleaned up all of her toys before sitting on the couch and rubbing your temples. "You know, if you don't get enough sleep you'll get sick." You turned around and saw Nick leaning up against the door frame. You smiled and walked over to him. "Thank god you're here. She's been asking non stop about you and won't go to bed." You placed your head against his chest and he wrapped his arms around your waist. "I'm here now, baby. Is she upstairs? I'll go put her to bed. You go lay down and try to get some sleep." He kissed your forehead before heading upstairs. "Daddy!" You heard your daughter yell and you smiled. You walked upstairs and changed into a pair of shorts and a t shirt before crashing on top of the covers. You heard a chuckle from the doorway before hearing footsteps walking closer to the bed. You felt a pair of arms scoop you up and place you under the covers. "Thank you babe." "Anything for you." He went into the bathroom and you heard the shower start. You turned over to face the wall away from the bathroom and felt your eyelids start to get heavy. You heard the shower turn off and the door open a few seconds later. You heard Nick shuffle around the room, opening and closing drawers, before you felt the other side of the bed dip down. You felt him wrap his arms around your waist and you turned to snuggle into his chest. You smiled as you inhaled the familiar scent of mint. "I missed you, (Y/N)." "I missed you too, Nick. Thank you for getting her to sleep." He kissed behind your ear and you sighed. "How did the investigation go?" "Well we definitely got some really good footage and even better audio, but I'd rather have been spending time with you." You smiled. "Smooth." Silence filled the room. "When do you leave again?" "Next week." You stayed quiet and traced circles on his chest. "What are you thinking?" He whispered. "I'm not even sure myself. I just know that I wish you could stay at home more often. I know you love what you do, but Jessica misses you. I miss you." He sighed and pulled you closer. "I know baby. I miss you both too. I haven't told anybody yet, not even the guys, but I've been thinking about quitting the show so I could spend more time with you and Jess." You sat up and turned to look at him. "Are you serious?" He placed his hand on your cheek. "Yeah. I just want you to know that I do take this relationship and this family serious." You kissed the inside of his wrist. "I know you are baby. Thank you." You snuggled back into his chest and felt sleep slowly overcome you. "I love you so much, Nick." He kissed your forehead. "I love you too, (Y/N)."
