You and the rest of the crew were investigating a state prison in South Dakota; to say you were nervous was an understatement. Ever since you arrived, you had been touched, all of your interviews were interrupted by either a noise or a shadow figure, and all the reports you read did not paint a pretty picture of this place. However, the person you were the most nervous for was your husband, Zak. In some of the most recent investigations, he purposely went out of his way to antagonize the spirits. You were currently in nerve center with Jay watching the rest of the guys make their way through the prison. "I think we should split up. Aaron, you go to cell 49. Billy, stay here in Cell Block C. I'll go down to Cell Block A." You looked at the screen dumbfounded. "Zak, I don't think you should go by yourself. Especially since you've been on quite the mission to piss off every possible spirit you encounter." You stated through the walkie. "I'll be fine. Besides, I've got you watching over me." You rolled your eyes and sat back in your chair. "I don't understand why he's like this." You grumbled. Jay chuckled and clicked on the screen now showing Zak. "Are there any spirits here?" Silence. "I heard this is where they kept all the tough guys. If your so tough, why don't you come out here and prove it." Silence. "Come on!" You saw a shadow move in the background. A noise off screen caught his attention and he moved over to a corner, which just so happened to be too dark to see on camera. "Zak? Is everything alright? We can't see you anymore on camera." "Yeah I'm- Ow! What the hell?!" You saw Zak shuffle back into view but he was grabbing his head. "Jay I'm going in." You stated as you ran out of nerve with a flashlight. When you got to Cell Block A, you looked around frantically. "Zak?" "Over here, babe." You pointed your flashlight in his direction and found him sitting on a table with his hand to his head. "Oh thank goodness your alright. What happened?" You pulled his hand away and saw a trickle of blood coming from a gash on his forehead. "I don't know. I saw a shadow move over there so I moved closer and the next thing I knew something hit my head." You could see the area around the cut starting to bruise. "Come on, let's get you back to nerve so I can clean that up." He stood and wrapped his arm around your waist. The walk back was quiet between the two of you; each of you caught up in your own thoughts. When you turned the corner to nerve, Aaron rushed over to the two of you. "Dude, what the hell happened?" He asked while talking Zak from you and putting him in an empty chair while you grabbed the first aid kit. "I honestly don't know. But I'm fine; it's just a scrape. We need to keep investigating." He tried to get up but you pushed him back down. "Zachary Alexander Bagans, you will sit here and you will shut up about this investigation for five minutes so I can clean this up." The room was silent and tense; you only used his full name when you were extremely pissed off. You worked in silence and noticed that the cut was deeper than you originally thought and would need stitches. "We need to go to the hospital and get stitches." "(Y/N), I really don't think that's necessary." You glared at Zak as he tried to get out of going. He held his hands up in surrender and stood up. "Aaron, can you help him in the car?" "Yeah of course." You grabbed your wallet off the counter and the car keys. "(Y/N), call us if you need anything. And let us know what happens." Billy said to you and you pulled him into a hug. "I will, Billy." You rushed out and to the car, where Aaron and Zak were waiting. You unlocked it and jumped in the driver's seat with Zak beside you and Aaron in the back. You started the car and sped off towards the closest hospital. "(Y/N), I feel fine. I promise." Zak tried to protest but you noticed his words were slightly slurred and he looked pale. "And I'm telling you that you are not fine. Please just stop trying to fight me on this." You sped up a little when you saw the sign for the hospital. You pulled in and quickly jumped out of the car and into the hospital to get some help, while Aaron stayed with Zak. "My husband was hit in the head with something and needs immediate attention, please." The nurse looked at you and nodded before calling for more hands up front. "(Y/N)! Something's wrong!" You heard Aaron call out as he carried Zak in. Your eyes widened and you rushed over. "What happened?" "I don't know. One minute we were talking and the next he was out cold." Nurses pushed past you with a stretcher and ordered Aaron to place him down before rushing him back. You went to follow but a nurse held you back. "Ma'am I need you to wait here." You tried to push through. "That's my husband!" "Ma'am please. We will send someone out here to get you when we've stabilized him." You felt Aaron gently grab your shoulder. "Come on, (Y/N/N). He'll be fine." You let him lead you to the waiting room and took a seat. "Aaron, what if-" "Don't even start to think like that. Zak has been through a lot worse and he is going to be fine." You rested your head on his shoulder. "I know." You both sat there for what felt like hours before a doctor came out. "Mrs. Bagans?" You stood up quickly. "Is he okay?" The doctor gave you a smile. "He's just fine. He has a slight concussion, a few bruises, and that gash on his forehead needed some stitches. Other than that, he'll be fine. We would like to hold him overnight just to make sure there are no complications but you can go see him now." You hugged Aaron before thanking the doctor. He showed you to the room Zak was in and the sight before you broke your heart; Zak was lying down with a bandage around his head, you could see the edges of a few bruises poking from underneath the bandage, and he was connected to so many wires. "Dear God..." You whispered. Zak looked over at you and you felt the tears start to roll down your face. "(Y/N)..." You walked over to his side and hugged him. You took a deep breathe and his scent relaxed your nerves a little. "Don't you ever scare me like that again." You whispered. Zak pulled back and brushed his hand through your hair. "I'm so sorry." "I'm umm, just gonna grab a snack or two from the vending machine." You heard Aaron mutter before leaving down the hall. You chuckled a little. "He was worried too. I promise." Zak chuckled a little before moving over and patting the spot next to him. You climbed in and snuggled against him. "I love you so much, (Y/N). And you're right, I've been pushing it a little too far these past couple of weeks." "Just promise to take it easy from now on, okay?" He kissed your forehead and you closed your eyes. "That damn beeping noise is going to bother me." Zak grumbled, causing you to laugh. "At least it's not Aaron's snoring." Zak laughed before the room fell into a comfortable silence, and you knew everything was going to be alright.
