You giggled as Zak helped you get your vest on. He had finally agreed to let you go on an investigation with him and the crew and you were so excited you could barely sit still. You stared at Zak in awe as he finished and looked at you. I can't believe I'm crazy enough to let you do this right now. You rolled your eyes. I'll be fine, Zak. I'll be by you the whole time and won't do anything stupid. You signed and he sighed. You see, you had lost your hearing when you were 2 years old and Zak was reluctant to let you go with him because you wouldn't be able to communicate. Let's go. You clapped in excitement and grabbed his hand before walking into the house. It was an old Victorian Mansion that resided in the quite hills of Kentucky. The local historian had said that a man named Jeff Southerland had the house built for his wife, who rarely left the house and always took care of her family before herself. However, she passed away from a head injury she had sustained while riding her horse. When Zak had told you the history, you had felt sympathy for the woman and hoped that you would be able to communicate with her. Once you and Zak entered the house, you took a moment to have your eyes adjust to the overwhelming darkness that seemed to surround you. You stayed close to Zak and followed him up the stairs. He looked to the side and you saw goosebumps rise on his arms, indicating that he saw or felt something. He quickly climbed the rest of the stairs and walked over to a set of chairs. He pointed to one and you sat down. I'll be right back. Whatever you do, do not leave this spot. Okay? You nodded your head as he began to walk away. You shifted uncomfortably in the chair and looked around. You felt as if somebody was watching you and you weren't sure how to feel about it. You looked into one of the rooms and saw a shadow move in the furthest corner. You internally debated with yourself before getting up and walking into the room. You shivered at the sudden temperature change before feeling... light. You looked around and tried to move your hand, but it wouldn't budge. You frowned and tried again, only this time your whole body moved towards a chair in the corner of the room. "(Y/N), please don't be afraid of me." A feminine voice whispered inside your head. You freaked out. You were deaf, it wasn't possible to hear things. "I just want to relay a message to someone." You felt an overwhelming sense of sadness rush over you. "I know of your condition but while I am inside your body, you are able to hear. But you cannot speak and for that I am sorry." What happened? You hoped she would somewhat understand your gestures. "I'm sorry, but I do not know what that means. But I'm assuming you would like to know who I am and why I am trapped here." You nodded. "My name is Vanessa Southerland. My husband and I moved out here to raise a family of our own. Once the house was built, we moved out here and I soon learned I was pregnant. Jeff kept me inside most of the time as he was afraid something would happen to me and the baby, which I did not mind as I had my books and my sewing to keep me company. Years passed by and we had 4 children running around. I had learned to ride horses when I was a girl and Jeff had bought me a beautiful horse so long back that I just adored riding. One day I went for a ride when my horse was spooked. I was thrown off and beige I could do anything..." You felt tears run down your face. "The horse had smashed my head in." She finished with a whisper. You heard footsteps walking towards the room you were in and you quickly turned around. "(Y/N)? Are you in here?" You saw Zak walk in and you nodded. "Can you, can you hear me?" You nodded again and he stared in disbelief. "How?" You grabbed a piece of paper from your pocket and a pen and wrote down the name Vanessa Southerland. He walked over and saw what you had written down. "Is that the wife who died here?" You nodded again. "She's possessing you?" You shrugged and sat down. You zoned out and began listening to what else she had to say. "Is he good?" Yes. He's my boyfriend. "My oh my, isn't he a charmer." You both giggled. "Thank you for listening to me. I'm afraid I must go now, but I hope you are successful with your lover." You felt the lightness leave you and everything slowly faded to silence. You sighed and looked up and Zak. "Can you still hear me?" You shook your head no. She's gone. She just wanted someone to talk to. He gave you a small smile. I think you've had enough adventure for one night. Let's head back to nerve center. He gently grabbed your hand and led you back downstairs and out of the house. You took a seat and stared at Zak. You okay? You nodded a yes before giving him a kiss. Thank you for letting me come. He blushed a little before looking around. It's whatever. I'm just glad you aren't hurt. You smiled and gave him a kiss before standing up and helping the rest of the guys pack up.
