You groaned in frustration as you stared down at the homework sitting in your lap. "What a load of crap." You mumbled as you threw it to the bottom of your bed and leaned back against the headboard. "(Y/N)! Zak is here!" You shot up and sprinted out of your room and down the stairs. Ever since you were a baby, you and Zak had been inseparable; he was your best friend and that fact hasn't changed even now. When you rounded the corner, you saw your dad, Nick, and Zak standing around the kitchen island talking about something. You felt a smile start to grow on your face and you quickly ran up to Zak and gave him a bone crushing hug. "You have no idea how happy I am to see you right now." You heard Zak chuckle. "Nice to see you too, (Y/N). Although you should be happy every time I come over." You pulled back and rolled your eyes. "Don't be a drama queen, of course I'm happy every time you come over." "Did you finish your homework?" You cringed and slowly turned to face your dad. "If I told you yes can I hang out with Zak?" He rolled his eyes and sighed. "Just please get it done sometime tonight." You did a small fist bump in the air and turned back to Zak. "There's this new horror movie on Netflix I've been wanting to watch but I wanted to wait for you..." You rambled on before dragging Zak up the stairs to your room. You both sat down on your bed and quickly turned the movie on. "How's school going?" You groaned and elbowed him in the side. "I was actually enjoying this movie you know." You mumbled and he shrugged. "I'm serious though. It's your senior year of high school; you should be excited about almost being done." You paused the movie and looked over at Zak. "I am, don't get me wrong, but it's still stressful. My dad has all these expectations for me and wants me to go off to college and do all these great things but I haven't been able to say what I want." "And what do you want?" You felt a small smile inch its way onto your face. "I want to join the crew." Zak's face turned serious. "(Y/N), what we do can be dangerous." You groaned in frustration. "Yes I know, my dad's a member and so is my best friend, I see the episodes, I deal with the things my dad brings back; I know this isn't a cake walk, but this is what I want to do!" Zak looked at you for a few seconds before sighing. "I'll talk to Nick and see what I can do." You stared at him in shock. "No way, are you serious?" He ruffled your hair and readjusted himself on the bed. "Yes I'm serious. Now play the movie, I want to see what happens." You did a little happy dance before pressing play and snuggling into his side. At some point during the movie you had fallen asleep and you were woken up to voices in the hallway. You slowly walked to the door and pressed your ear against it. "She's only 18, Zak! She has her life ahead of her and I'm not going to drag her into what we do." "She is your daughter and you should be more supportive of what she wants to do. She wants to be like you, Nick. She's just as passionate as the rest of us and wants to spend more time with you. Open your eyes, Nick." You heard footsteps start to get distant and you knew someone was walking away. There was soft knocking at your door and you waited a few seconds before opening the door and seeing your father standing there. "Hey baby. Did I wake you up?" "No you didn't. What's up?" He rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly. "I um wanted to talk to you." You opened the door wider and let him inside before shutting the door and walking over to your bed. He sat down on the edge and looked at you. "You know that I love you, right?" "Of course I do." "And that I would support you in anything you do?" "Almost anything." He sighed. "Look (Y/N), I know that you want to join the crew but it's too dangerous." You sighed and shook your head. "I'm not a little girl anymore, dad. You can't keep me shoved away from this anymore; it's what I want to do." You were shocked when he quickly pulled you into his arms. "You'll always be my little girl, (Y/N). I just don't want you to get hurt." He whispered and you felt your heart melt. "I know, dad. I just want you to be proud of me." He pulled back and looked you in the eye. "I will always be proud of you. If this is really what you want to do then... I'll talk to the guys about it." You stared at him in shock. "Seriously?! Oh my god, thank you dad!" You hugged him and he chuckled. He pulled back and stood up. "I'll talk to them... only if you finish your homework from now on." You felt your smile falter a little. "That's cheap." You mumbled. He laughed and walked to the door. "I love you, (Y/N)." You smiled. "I love you too, dad." Once you heard the door click shut, you scrambled for your phone and sent Zak a quick text telling him what happened. You felt your phone vibrate and saw he had replied. "Told you he would eventually give in. I guess I'm more persuasive than I thought." "Seriously though, thank you Zak." "Anything for my best friend. Now go to bed, you have school tomorrow." You quickly finished your homework and crawled under the covers before falling asleep with a smile on your face.
