You stared intensely into the reflection pool as you paced back and forth. You were a guardian angel and specifically assigned to keep watch over one person in particular- Nick Groff. But it was much more difficult than you thought it would be. He and the crew were investigating an abandoned hospital and it definitely was not the safest place in the world. You felt a sharp pain in your scalp and knew something was gonna happen. You quickly apparated into the hospital and behind Nick. Your sharp eyes were taking in everything, constantly searching for any signs of danger. As you were walking down the hallway, you saw a dark figure sprint across the hallway. You felt your gut churn and saw the brick get thrown before Nick could. You quickly grabbed the collar of his shirt and pulled him against the wall. You could feel his pulse beating extremely fast and his breathing turn into panting. You sighed a breath of relief and let go of his shirt before stepping back. "Dude! Are you okay? What happened?" Aaron and Zak came sprinting down the hallway while Nick looked around confused. "I-I don't know. One minute I was just standing there and the next I felt somebody grab my shirt and pull me against the wall. I swear to God there was nobody around me." Zak began rambling about how a spirit was trying to speak to us while Aaron was, well being Aaron. You smirked and leaned against the wall, finding their antics amusing. You had never revealed yourself to the guys and you didn't feel like you had to, but you made sure they knew that you were around. You giggled and the guy's stopped talking. "Did you hear that?" Zak whispered. "Dude if it's those beans from earlier I swear..." Aaron whispered with a giggle. Zak punched his shoulder. "I'm being serious. I heard someone giggle." You looked at Nick and gave him a light kiss on the cheek before disappearing. A few weeks later, you were lounging around your room when you felt a sharp pain in your scalp. You quickly apparated to where Nick was. You looked around and noticed that you were in what appeared to be Nick's room. You saw him sitting on the middle of his bed with a small knife sitting beside him. You quickly walked over to prevent what he was going to do but stopped at the edge of his bed as he was placing a small bandaid on his finger; you took in the scene in utter confusion. "I know you're here. The guys think I'm crazy but I can feel your presence whenever I'm in danger and I need to know that you're real." You sighed and bit your lip. You weren't supposed to show yourself unless he was in immediate and life threatening danger. "Screw it." You whispered before taking a deep breath. You showed yourself and watched his reaction. "I knew it." He whispered in awe as he took in your appearance; the way your (h/l) (h/c) seemed to glow with a heavenly light and your body was clothed in a soft, white dress which seemed to shape your figure perfectly. You felt yourself grow self conscious for some weird reason. Nick slowly got up and crawled towards you. You quickly backed up and Nick stopped while raising his hands in surrender. "I'm sorry if I frightened you. I just want to talk." He said softly and you felt your heart rate pick up. "Okay." You responded softly; your soft and melodic voice was like silk to his ears. "Would you like to sit down?" He moved back towards the middle of the bed and you cautiously took a seat at the edge. "What's your name?" "(Y/N)." He smiled. "That's a beautiful name." You felt your face heat up. Never in the thousands of years that you had been alive had anybody ever complimented you. "Thanks. So now you know your not crazy." He chuckled. "Yeah, I guess I do." You both sat there in silence for a while. "You can't tell anybody." You finally broke the silence. "As much as you'd like to spread the news that I'm always there and keeping watch, you can't tell them my name or tell them anything really about me." He sat up. "Or what?" You bit your lip. "I would have to erase your memory of any trace that I existed." He frowned. "Can I ask you questions? About like the after life?" You gave him a small smile. "I can only answer a select few. My father has entrusted me with the task of watching over you. You, Nick Groff, are destined for great things." "Me? What am I going to do?" You gave him a sympathetic smile. "I can not tell you. He has a plan and I am to make sure that plan is executed flawlessly." "Who is your father?" You gave him a funny look. "He has many names but you know him as God." He sat there and stared at you. "Are you for real right now?" You cocked your head to the side. "Why wouldn't I be?" He took a deep breath. "What's it like?" You carefully thought about what you were going to say. "It's not as simple as you would like it to be. But to try and make it easy, it's like a waiting room." "A waiting room? But what about the golden gates and angels with trumpets and everything that could make you happy?" You chuckled. "The imagination of your kind never fails to amaze me. Like I said, it's like a waiting room, no trumpets or golden gates." "What would I be waiting for?" "To be reborn." He stared at you dumbfounded. "What? So then how are there spirits still in this life?" You sighed and rubbed your hands, a slight pain was growing up your arms and you knew you had to stop. You stood up. "I'm sorry, Nick, but I've said too much." You looked down and saw black veins crawling up your arm. "I've already said too much." He quickly stood up. "Wait!" You stared at him and bit your lip to distract you from the ever growing pain. "When can I speak with you again? There's so much I don't know." You sighed. "I'll return tomorrow but I need to speak with my father on what I can and can't tell you. I really need to go now, goodbye." You quickly disappeared to your room and felt the pain subside but exhaustion quickly take over and you collapsed onto your bed. At the same time, Nick was staring at the spot where you were once standing; trying to wrap his mind around what had just happened but only becoming frustrated. He slammed his fist on the bed and sighed as he sat down, thinking about all the questions he was determined to ask the next chance he got.
