Courtney's POV:
I stared up at the clock, still another 27 minutes until I can go on my break.
My first shift at my new job has been going great. It's a lot better than what I first thought it would be. Waiting on people all day, is actually fairly easy.
I have had a few rude customers, but on average the people who eat here are nice. You do get the odd few though, don't you?
"Order for table 3. Medium rare stake and lobsters." I yell as I walk into the kitchen.
That has to be the funnest part of the job, getting to yell at people.
I walk back out into the main dinning area with three plates in my hands.
"Here are your meals. Jacket potato with tuna and a side salad. Your steak, well done, and finally your hunters chicken with chips. Is that all?" I say to the three gentlemen sat around the table by the window.
"No, may we have a few more drinks please?" The man with the short beard spoke up.
"Yes, of course you can." I reply, pulling out my notepad ready to write their drink orders down. "What would they be?"
"Can I have a lemonade please." The man with the beard asked.
I began to jot that down in the little notepad I was holding.
"Oh, and me please." Said the male with light blonde hair and a striped blue shirt on.
The bearded man spoke up again. "Make that two then please." He looked away from me at the the third man, who was just sat looking down at his plate. "What would you like Mark?"
The man, who was addressed as Mark looked up at me. "May I have a coke please?"
I wrote down his order in the pad. "You may. Is that all?" I asked once more.
"That's it thank you."
"Okay, well have a nice meal AMD of you need anything else don't be afraid to ask." I walk away from their table and notice a familiar face stood by the door.
"Great waitressing skills." He chuckled as I came closer.
"I don't think that's a word." I joined in a little with the laughter.
"What's not?" He began to try and act dumb.
"Waitressing." I told him, blankly.
"I'm not the only one who said it though. So it must be a word."
"Who else has then?" I challenge him.
"You did just now." He began to laugh again.
"Haha, you're so funny." I said sarcasticly, in a monotone.
"I know." He breathed out inbetween the tiny fits of laughter.
"Anyway what are you doing here? At my work!?" I hissed, now turning serious.
The smile dropped off his face, he knew I wasn't joking anymore. "Woah, calm down babe. I only came here to visit you." He told me in a relaxed tone.
"Now though. My first shift at my NEW job. Do you want me to get fired?" I moaned.
"No, of course not. I just thought that I might surprise you." No hint of him being the slightest part jokey anymore.
There was a long pause, filled with only the murmuring of customers and the clanking of knives and forks on plates as people scrape up the remains of their food.
