justin's p.o.v.
"no?" i respond to hailey, more like a question than a statement. she had asked if i saw her message she sent to me.
"humph," she makes a noise, biting the inside of her bottom lip. i stared at it, wondering if it'll burst open.
continuing to walk down the beach with people following us, we mindlessly chat about anything. one sentence caused me to pay more attention to what she had to say.
"there's this rumour that you're dating selena gomez, is that true?" she awkwardly turns her body to me and waits for my answer while still following my speed.
i slowed down a little. "nah," i say emotionlessly, but my stomach was burning on the inside.
she smiles at me – like a huge ass grin – and babbled on about something else that made me lose attention. why would she mention selena?
she then tells me a story about how a guy was being a 'asshole' while they was on a date so she spills her drink on him, pretending it was an accident when she purposely done it. she laughed hysterically at this and i couldn't help but join her – not because of her story but because of her laughter and the way she screws up her face when she laughs.
picking up my arm that was dangling by my side, i place my arm on her shoulders, resting it there.

selena settles down on her sofa in her living room, ready to spend some time catching up on social media. she had been busy recently that she hadn't had the time to just relax on the sofa and carelessly go on social media. opening up twitter and scrolling down her feed, all the tweets of the people she follows showing up. she likes some of them before deciding to see the current trending hashtags.
the worldwide trending one, the one that caught her eye the most, was 'jailey'.
wondering what the hell jailey is, she clicks on the tab, immediately all the tweets with the mentions of jailey showing up. and then she instantly knew what jailey meant.

seeing many pictures, selena gets a pang of jealousy. but the question that struck her the most was: are they dating? the fans seem to think so – and the media. is it true?

it hurt selena more that justin had said to her personally while they was on their hawaii trip that hailey was nothing more than just a friend.
