"justin," scooter booms, narrowing his eyes. "what are you doing here?"
justin had been contemplated about this, about if scooter would bother even trying to help selena. he presumed no, but it would be worth a try.
justin smiles to him as a greeting, but then swiftly realised that scooter wouldn't know what justin needs, and therefore he had to speak.
that's when he noticed the impact selena already had on his life, and it was only the first day they started speaking – even if it was one-sided – again.
yet again, that scared justin.
not because he was anxious about the consequences or the damage she would do by leaving, but because he was worried about the harm he could do to her.
from what he recalled, their relationship was based on the harm he done to her emotionally. they argued, forgave, but most of all: he cheated, and he knew no matter what words that was said he will always know and deeply regret his actions.
he knew he was a threat.
he didn't need social media to tell him that or the crazed fans who were protective over selena. long paragraphs explaining his worst action identifying that he was bad for her, he already knew.
"take selena," he outbursts, making scooter take a double look at him. relief was smeared over his face, but once he comprehended the long awaited words that left justin's mouth, the relief transformed to panic.
"'take selena'?" he questions, stumbling back into the seat of his couch. after the meeting with selena, justin immediately decided to visit scooter at his home.
"on your company," he finishes the sentence, licking his lips and tasting the words. he wasn't sure if he missed speaking, he wasn't sure if he was meant to wish never to speak.
"company? do you mean the record label?" justin confirms by nodding. "why should i take her? she's already signed."
"she needs help."
