Chapter 15 - My Place

"Akala ko hindi ka papayag makipagkita."

"Bakit naman hindi."

First it was awkward. Really awkward. Like walang makakatalo sa amin ni Carl sa awkwardness but we managed.

After some time mas nagloosen up na siya and not to lie, I enjoyed his company. Funny rin pala siya. Hindi ko lang napansin last time dahil nasa dulo siya at nangingibaw ang boses ni Anthony.

"Seryoso? Ginawa niyo 'yun? Grabe!"

"Yeah. Nagkaroon nga ng meeting kung paakyatin ba kami sa stage para sa graduation."

Tumawa ako. "Ang tindi!"

Binalot nila buong floor kung nasaan ang classroom nila ng tissue. Kung hindi ba naman walang magawa si Carl tsaka barkada niya. Hindi ko inexpect sa kanya na gagawa ng ganon kalokohan nung high school dahil mukha naman siyang matino.

"Pinakamatindi ko sigurong ginawa ay nagcutting classes kaming magkakaibigan tapos may supervisor na nakakita sa amin and we tried to run pero nahuli rin kami because we got stuck inside the elevator."

"Badass ka rin pala nung high school."

"Lahat naman ata dumaan sa ganyan. Sino bang hindi nakaranas mag cut ng class."

Nagkukwentuhan pa kami nang bigla lang akong napalingon sa glass door at may nakaagaw ng atensyon ko.

Nagdouble look ako because I don't think I will see Ice here.

Why is this guy showing up everytime I'm having a date? Naguumpisa ko nang isipin na pinagtatagpo kami ng tadhana. (Or that he's really just following me)

Napatingin siya sa akin and I can see that he's also surprised to see me here. Tumaas ang dalawa niyang kilay at inirapan ko siya.

"May plano ka ba mamaya?"

"Mamaya?" My eyes is still glued on Ice. "Wala naman."

"Gusto mo yayain sila Nikki?"

Sasagot pa lang sana ako pero biglaan ang pagsulpot ni Ice sa table namin.

"Tiffany! Hey are we still on later?"

Napatingin ako kay Carl at sa kanya. I gave Ice the tigilan-mo-ko-look.

Pero mukhang hindi siya marunong makiramdam. I have to pick up my jaw after hearing what he said next.

"My place right? Or your place?"

Kung hindi ba naman siraulo 'tong lalaking 'to! Hindi ako nakasalita dahil hindi ko alam kung ano ang dapat kong sabihin at hindi rin niya ako binigyan ng chance magsalita.

"My place then. I'll wait for you outside. Bilisan mo ah?" He even winked at me.

And he just left me speechless. Napatingin ako kay Carl at awkward na ngumiti.

"I don't know that guy, really. Sino ba 'yun?"

"He knows you.." He trailed.

Okay tama na. This is already awkward as it is tapos lalo ko pang pinapahiya ang sarili ko.

"Okay, I know him. Pero, uh, he is.."

"Your boyfriend? Hmm.." Tumango siya.

Nasapo ko ang noo ko.

"I'm guessing you have to leave now? Since your boyfriend is waiting for you."

"No, no. Actually he's not my boyfriend." Paliwanag ko. "We're not close."

Kumunot ang noo niya. "So you two are just.. you know."

Oh god.

Lalo siyang naguluhan ang I think I made it worse by saying that. He thinks we're friends with benefits. My place and your place is mentioned so malamang 'yun na ang iniisip niya and by the look of his face it's confirmed.

"What? No! Alright, I think I have to go. Thank you and I had a great time." Nahihiya akong umalis. "Sorry."

Ayaw ko nang magsalita pa. Mas better kung umalis nalang ako.

Shit paano ko ihaharap ang mukha ko kay Nikki sa Monday kung ganito ang nangyari.

Ngayon ay pwede ko nang sabihin sa kanya na talagang sinusundan niya ako. Meron bang pumasok lang sa cafe para sabihin na ganon.

"You can be an actor if you're not a stalker." Sabi ko pagkakita ko sa kanya.

He had this smile on his face that's saying he's enjoying right now.

"Again no thank you but you're welcome by the way."

Tumawa ako. I definitely don't need saving this time but he wants to hear it so I said it. "Fine. Thank you."

"What? Is that thank you I hear? Wow."

"Is your date always that bad? I'm starting to think that you have a thing for them."

"Actually that guy earlier? He's Nikki's friend. We're suppose to grab a drink after kung hindi ka dumating. But great, he thinks a guy and I are going to his place. Thank you."

"And thanks to you, hindi ko alam kung paano ako mageexplain kay Nikki." I added.

Instead of saying sorry he smiled as if he did nothing. "Good then."

"Ano?"

"How about this, since sinira ko ang date mo, why don't you have it with me instead? Coffee?"

"Are you asking me on a date? My dates usually don't end well."

"Try me."

His hands are inside his jeans pocket and he totally looked so cool that way. He said that with a cute smile. Why not?

"So your place?" I blurted out.

Despite always saying we'll go to his place to my dates. When I said it bigla siyang nahiya. "No. I-- I mean coffee in a coffee shop or any cafe you like."

I decided to teased him more as it's a first that I saw him like this. Stammering. Cute.

"Not your place? Then I'm going to decline that offer."

"What?"

"You're always saying we'll go to your place so it got mewondering what it's like."

"We will not go to my place. Not tonight." He said sternly. Hah, he's really serious about that. Ano ka ngayon?

"Not tonight. Kailan? Tomorrow?" I slightly tilt my head.

"Ah.. how about my place?" I suggested playfully.

He sighed, "We're not going to my place or your place at that matter. So I'll ask again, will you have coffee with me? At a coffee shop."

Natatawa nalang ako sa itsura niya ngayon. Lord, this guy is cute. Kaya kahit na medyo gusto ko nang umuwi ay pumayag ako.

Dapat ay aawayin ko siya about dun sa kanina pero seeing him like this made me forget.

"Okay. Coffee shop then."

I don't know this person but I think I'm starting to like him.

He just ruined my supposedly great date. For once nagkaroon ako ng smooth date pero kailangan niya talagang umepal.

But I have to admit, I'm kind of expecting him to appear actually. It's weird pero hinihintay ko siya like he always do.

Though I don't need saving, I'm happy he did.
