Chapter 35 - My Everything

I think whatever Ice did is effective. Hindi na ako ulit nakatanggap ng calls or messages from him since that night. And it's a good thing right? Who wants their ex constantly ringing their phone. I wouldn't want that.

And so hindi ko na rin sinabi kanila Rhian because I know how they will react. Sabi pa nga ni Tan before na baka bigla niyang masuntok si Reagan pag nakita niya sa labas. See kahit si Tan na hindi aggressive ganon ang sinabi.

Para sa akin hindi na iyon big deal dahil matagal na 'yun and it's all buried in the past. I've move on and I'm okay now. Pero ang mga friends ko hindi makamove on.

Pero sinabi ko kay Jade dahil hindi naman niya kilala si Reagan so she won't have any violent reaction.

"So it's him. Alam mo ba I considered if dapat ba akong magpalipat because my roommate keeps on crying. Nakakatakot kaya!"

Sumimangot ako dahil alam ko nang ganito ang magiging reaksyon niya. I expected it at aminado naman ako. I did that yes pero nahihiya pa rin ako.

"Malay mo may importante talaga siyang sasabihin?"

"Jade, pag ba 'yung ex mo na sobrang iniyakan mo biglang tumawag sayo isang araw tapos sasabihin na gusto niyang makipagusap papayag ka?"

She pouted and sighed. "'Yun lang. Hindi ko alam. I never had an ex you know. Pero let's say na meron hindi ko sasagutin."

"Pero may part sa akin na gustong malaman kung anong gusto niya. I hate him but I can't help it. Ang gulo lang. Kaya ayaw ko ng feelings." Humalukipkip ako.

"Speaking of feelings, alam mo bagay kayo ni Ice. At alam kong may little crush ka sa kanya kaya wag mong itanggi."

Saglit akong napangiti.

Nginuso niya 'yung study table sa kwarto. "Halatang halata oh. Nakadisplay talaga."

Nilagay ko kasi doon 'yung picture namin dalawa. 'Yung nakangiti lang sa camera at hindi 'yung sumasayaw dahil kahit ako naiwiweirduhan kung ididisplay.

"Sino kaya sa atin 'yung may picture ng marriage booth at nahuli ng boyfriend?"

She flushed and her mouth fell open. "Sinabi niya sayo?"

Tinawanan ko lang siya.

"In my defense it's been there since forever."

Umiling ako. "Did I say anything? Wala. Chill."

"Dahil dyan aamin ka ngayon. Crush mo si Ice noh?" Nanlaki ang mata niya na parang tinatakot ako.

"Fine. Medyo lang."

"At medyo hindi rin ako naniniwala na medyo lang. Tiffs, he is a nice guy. You deserve each other."

"I don't even know if he likes me."

Hindi ko maintindihan ang lalaking 'yun. He always goes 'you're not my type' to 'try me'

How am I suppose to know if he's like that. Clearly he is a playboy kahit na sinasabi niyang nilalapitan lang siya ng babae because of two reasons.

"Trust me. He does. Hindi mo kasi nakikita pero kami?" She chuckled. "Yes. Kami ni Rhian, nakikita namin. Pinagusapan kaya namin kayo! Lahat ata ng babae maiinggit sa way ng pagtingin niya sayo. He look at you like you are the most beautiful girl he had ever seen. But of course you didn't know that because you're not looking."

Kumunot ang noo ko at biglang naconfuse. Teka, kailan pa naging observant mga kaibigan ko?

"Think about it. Dapat alam mo 'yan. Pansinin mo mga actions niya pag ikaw ang kasama at pag iba. You'd know the difference."

Well he hold my hands, he draped his arm over my shoulder and sometimes he'd pull me closer to him, he sing for me once-- Nope, this is just crazy.

I almost forgot Jade likes to read and she loves romantic movies too.

"Maybe you read too much books?" Tumaas ang kilay ko.

"'Yan ang sasabihin mo sa akin? Okay. Ikaw ang bahala. Feelings niyo naman 'yan and eventually lalabas rin 'yan. I just want to give you a heads up. Alam mo na pag matagal nang walang love life.."

Wow parang bumaliktad ang position namin since college. Parang naririnig ko ang dating ako sa kanya. It's weird.

"So you're judging me? Hindi ko inexpect sayo 'yan, Jade. Anong nangyari sayo?"

She just laughed, grabbed a pillow and throw it in my direction.

It's good to have Jade here. Parang dati lang ulit but this time baliktad na.

Talking to Jade cleared my mind. But the last thing I wanna think about is she telling me how Ice looked at me.

Tuloy pag kasama ko siya ay parang nagiging observant ako. I was caught staring at him several times dahil gusto kong makita kung ano ang sinasabi niya.

"Problema mo?"

I was debating with myself whether I should tell him or not.

"Akala ko may something sa mukha mo kanina." I decided against it.

Because it will left me feel awkward and I don't like awkward. And it's the last thing we are, awkward.

"May something rin sa mukha mo." He said then pressed his finger to my forehead.

Pinalo ko ang kamay niya.

"Bakit? May something eh!"

"Oo na. May gusto kasi ako itanong. Si Rhian kasi, tinanong niya ako kung paano ko nalalaman kung may gusto ang isang tao sa kanya."

I'm sorry Rhian.

His eyebrows shot up and I saw him bit his lower lip. "Uhuh."

"May guy kasi siyang dinedate. She asked me kasi according to her ako lang sa friends niya ang pinakamaraming nakadate. I'm asking because she expects an answer at hindi ko alam." I'm careful with my words. Ice is smart he knows when something is wrong.

Tumayo siya at inusog palapit sa akin ang bar stool na inuupuan niya. I shifted to face him too.

"Well ganito 'yan. You know I'm not very complicated so kung ako," He slouch to met my eyes. "I will look at her like she's my everything."

I gaped at him. I was surprised by the look he had given me. No one ever looked at me like that. Ever. Up close I noticed that his eyes are dark brown that could be mistaken for black. I saw myself in his eyes, the reflection of me and Jade's words hit me. I shook my head and snapped myself out before anything else.

"So if someone looks at her like that, ask her to marry him." Tumawa siya as if he's joking.

"Did-- did you ever look at someone like that before?" I couldn't help but ask.

Nagulat rin siya sa tanong ko dahil napaharap siya sa akin at napatigil sa pagtawa.

My heart was beating so fast and loud that I could almost hear it until he answered.

"No. Haven't found the right one yet."

I nodded and gave him a faint smile.

And like that my thoughts are shattered like glass.
