Chapter 3

"So are you going to answer my question honestly or do I have to really hurt you?" she whispered venomously.

"You mean to tell me that you weren't even trying before?" I asked sarcastically. My body wasn't as strong as my mind and it throbbed in pain. But I ignored it and stared back at Al in defiance. I couldn't help my eyes widening and I ignored the pain, feeling my heart beat faster.

"I already told you guys, I want to be made a member but I needed to know if you guys were worthy of me," I said as confident as I could. I'm no Sherlock but even I can deduct that this place was some weird cult.

Ever heard that saying if you can't win then join them. Well right now I was even willing to shave all my facial hair if it meant I could go home.

"You must be real dumb if you think you're fooling anybody," The girl closed the space between us and I felt my throat close in fear.

"I don't know what you're talking about," I managed to choke out more confidently than I felt.

She seemed surprised but quickly covered it with a grimace. She opened her mouth to say something until another voice boomed in the room.

"Al let her go." I turned to see an older light skinned man with brown cropped hair. And standing next to him was the boy who dragged me in with this monster. I risked a glance over to said monster. She looked like she could breathe fire as she balled up her fist in anger.

"Luke, what in the hell did you get him for?" Al snarled at the young boy.

The older man was watching me curiously with his calculating emerald eyes but as he heard Al, his eyes snapped furiously to her and she instantly closed her mouth. She even reluctantly let me go and I staggered a little without the support.

"Sit," The older man said, his voice booming around the room. I couldn't help but freeze.

I nearly dropped and sat in the spot I was standing but luckily I didn't because that would have been embarrassing. Even more so because I knew he was speaking to Al. She stomped towards her seat at the end of the room and slammed down like a child.

"So who are you with?" The older man said his eyes meeting mine.

"I'm not with anyone, I already told that psycho I just came here to scope this place out before I join," I said with a lot less confidence than I should have.

The man turned his head slightly to examine me and I gulped in fear. He was young but obviously the oldest one in this room, he was probably in his late 20's and clearly the one in charge of this place. I kind of admired the way he commanded the room but I was way too intimidated to feel anything but scared.

"You don't look like much of a fighter... but there is something about you," The man said straightening up and laughing.

I could hear Al behind me snicker but she quickly went silent when he shot her a glare.

I was honestly confused about what type of cult this was but there was no way I was going to say just kidding and walk out of here like nothing ever happened.

There was really only one way for me to get out of this place without my cover being blown. I glanced back towards Al who glared so intensely at me I swear I could feel the back of my head burning. A small innocent smirk came on my lips and she sat up attently.

"Yeah... it's called skill," I said confidently then looked towards the older man who looked amused by my answer.

My body froze as two more people joined the room. The first was a hispanic girl with short curly hair but I didn't pay much attention to her. Instead I was fixated on the blonde haired boy who stood behind her. It was then that I knew what I needed to do.

"I want to join," I said a little too out of breath and a look of satisfaction took over the older man.

"I really wouldn't think of you as someone who could take punches," he said replacing his amusement with a cold expression. Now that he was in the same room I was even more aware and on my toes. I tried to collect myself but I swear the entire room heard my stomach thud on the ground.
