Hey Guys, I am super psyched that I just reached 300 followers, this may be a little but I am so happy to see that people have not given up on me.  I will finish this book because Duck deserves an ending. To be honest I've still got a bit to go until the end and then hopefully sometime in the future I can go back and make this story better.  Thank you so much for the follows, the reads and the likes, it really motivates me to continue!

Chapter 51

I had to force myself to look away from Drake as Chase led me out of the crowd. I don't know why but I could physically feel Drake's stare. My skin felt hot and I just wanted to jump in the river.

"Duck, are you okay?" Chase asked placing his hand on my back.

I didn't feel butterflies from his touch, instead, I felt awkward.

"I'm sorry I'm just hot," I replied unconvinced as I shrugged myself from his touch.

"Let's move closer to the water," Chase said leading me to an isolated part of the riverbank. I risked a glance over to where Drake was sitting but it was abandoned.

Once we plopped ourselves down I started untying my shoes. "What are you doing?" Chase asked startled.

I peeled off my sock and stuck my foot in the water. "Cooling down, duh," I said as if it was normal for someone to strip off their shoes at a party.

He laughed in amazement as he watched me. "You really are something," Chase said under his breath as he stretched himself out.

I laid my head down on my knees, making sure to hold my dress close to my thighs so I don't flash the imaginary people in front of us. I turned my head to look at Chase and he looked so peaceful as he watched the water. Before I could stop myself I started talking.

"You look nice," I said with a blush. Chase looked down at me surprised. The moonlight hit the side of his face perfectly and his blue eyes shone under the light.

I always wish I had colored eyes, as a blonde I can't help but feel like my genes failed me. In comparison to Chase, I probably looked dull, with my muddy brown eyes and unruly hair. Chase's face softened as if he could hear my thoughts and to my surprise, he reached out for me. His fingers gently gliding against my chin. I flinched as his fingers pressed into my sore chin.

I felt self-conscious, maybe my face was getting swollen. I tried to turn my face away from Chase but he made no move to take away his hand. We silently stared at each other and I didn't know what to do. Despite all the alcohol, I knew I wasn't imagining this. Right now, at this moment. Chase and I were feeling the same thing.

"You look nice too," Chase finally said, his voice no louder than a whisper that I could have imagined it.

I don't know who moved first but somehow Chase's face was much closer. My breath hitched in my throat as his hand moved from my chin to hold my cheek. I had always dreamed of kissing Chase, of him being my first kiss. Only it wouldn't be.

At the thought of my first kiss, I pulled away from Chase. This was not a dream. We were real, and as much as it irritated me I was scared of us being different... I kind of liked the way Chase and I are.

I felt completely embarrassed as Chase took a sharp breath. He looked a little shocked at his own movement, finally aware of what was about to happen.

"Chaya, I'm sorry-" Chase started but I cut him off.

"No it's okay," I said completely ignoring the fact that I was wearing makeup as I ran my hands across my face in exasperation.
