Chapter 6
My phone started to ring and I let out an annoyed groan as I turned in bed trying to pick it up but I just ended up fumbling with everything on my nightstand until my fingers came in contact with my cellphone. I grabbed the phone refusing to open my eyes and put my phone up to my ear.
"Hello?" I said only to have the phone continue to ring as a reply. "Ugh," I cry while I press answer, or at least where I thought it was.
"Wow you must not be a morning person," a voice replied and my eyes flew open as I racked my brain trying to match the voice to the person. In the end I couldn't figure it out.
"Who is this?" I asked, I may have not known who it was but I knew I would dread the answer.
"It's Victor, by the way you need to learn some manners, that's a rude way to answer the phone," he chuckled his laugh filling my ears..
I sat up in bed and rubbed my eyes. "How'd you get my number?" I asked not even trying to hide the irritation in my voice.
"I have my ways" he starts but I scoff in reply.
"What are you a mob boss?"
"Like I was saying the offer I gave you is limited so if I were you I'd get your butt over here and start impressing otherwise-," he was saying, when I hung up cutting out the rest of his words.
"I feel like it's going to be a good day now," I said smiling to myself as I threw my fluffy blankets off me.I've been avoiding his place for three days now since my embarrassing exit, I didn't need a lecture from Victor because I knew school would start again in a week and if I wanted to join I needed to do it now.
I started to stretch, a goofy smile on my face until I get a cramp in my calf and I started wailing like a banshee. I forced myself to get up and dressed in plain black jeans and an oversized sweater. Before opening my bedroom door I took a second look at myself in the mirror and smiled. My bruises were hardly noticeable after the treatments I bought.
I didn't have to bother telling Mike where I was sneaking off to because he's been busy at work. I locked up the apartments and I actually remembered to ride my bike so the trip to Victor's building was cut short. When I arrived at the building I sent Mary a quick text telling her I was outside. I tied my bike into the front gate then proceeded to towards the front door. I pulled it open and smiled as the warm air of the building made my face. I just wandered around the first floor getting use to everything when I heard Mary call out from behind me.
"Hey sorry I was out back training," Mary said placing a small washcloth around her shoulders."How are you not cold?" I asked her in amazement as I tried not to stare at her. To be honest I felt kind of insecure next to her. She wore a purple sports bra and black yoga pants. Her hair was in a small ponytail and she had a million bobby pins to hold all her loose short hairs. She was a couple inches taller than me but she was perfectly tanned and had a defined stomach. Whereas I was pale and while I may be categorized as skinny I was just flabby.
"After working out you hardly feel it, besides it's good motivation," She replied with a shrug as if it was nothing.
"So any idea where I can find my other judges. Victor called me up this morning," I replied, changing the subject. I turned to look around the building as if someone would suddenly show up
"You know I actually haven't seen Al these past few days, I heard she was sick and she hasn't came out her room." She said knowingly as she smiled at my undoubtedly evil expression. " As for Chase, I don't think he's here today, He doesn't show up very much during vacation time or the weekend.""Chase doesn't live here like the rest of you?" I asked, of course I already knew that but Mary didn't need to know that.
"No he's actually the only one who lives mainly with his parents, he does have a room here though. I don't know where Junior is but Luke is out back training," She said gesturing towards the backyard.
We walked side by side to the backyard. When we reached the door. Mary went out first and I followed after her. She looked around for a second and spotted him.
