Chapter 7

The person immediately shot up revealing their blonde hair then quickly back down as the security turned. The person then grabbed me and pinned me down onto the ground. I struggled to breathe and out of instinct tried to scream but then I saw him.

My eyes nearly popped out as I saw Chase's blue eyes watching me fiercely his hold on me never wavering. Then his face expression shifted as he took in who I was.

Sorry it's a reflex," he said letting go of me as I sat up.

"What are you doing here?" I asked glad that we were whispering because truth is that's all I could ever manage around him.

A smile lit up his face as he pulled his hoodie back over his head. I could feel my chest tighten but ignored it.

"Well Al didn't feel like coming out because she looks like she was attacked by the hickey monster and asked me to do this," he said and I tried to hold my laughter back.

"Now what are you doing here?" he asked.

I looked up at him taking in all his features from being this close, our faces mere inches away from each other.

"Luke didn't know if Al was coming so he asked me to," I forced out turning my head to look at the mansion. We were silent for a while and I tried to ignore the fact that he's been staring at me the entire time.

I started  to act like the mansion was  doing backflips and focused all my attention on it but when Chase started talking I  jumped a little.

"What was that?" I squealed turning to look at him.

"How long were you here?" he repeated curiously his blue eyes piercing through me.

"For about half an hour, why?" I asked making my voice stay stable as I tried not to squirm under his stare.

"Oh, no reason," he mumbles under his breathe then turns back to the mansion.

Okay weird.

"So how do you want us to sneak in?" he said breaking our remainder of silence. Us? I turned to him confused.

"Well were both here besides it will make it faster you know, one distracts while the other retrieves," he said while pointing at the small blue bag Luke gave me and I nod in approval. He grabs the bag and begins looking through which is something this genius here didn't even think of doing.

Chaya I hate to ask but what did you intend to retrieve if you don't know what you were suppose to get?

Shut up I was going to look through.

Right, so since you obviously weren't going to look through you were just going to charge in there and stupidly take everything.

No....I was.......never mind, geez Chaya sometimes your annoying, you little know-it-all.

I stopped my war when Chase handed me a slip of paper. I looked at it and it had a picture of a small silver box and the word Diamond hand written in sharpie on the bottom. I flip it over to see a small map of what I guess is the inside of the building in one of the rooms an x and the code 38-92-00.

I swear nowadays things are seeming more spy-ish, and I'm loving it.

"So how do we do this?" I asked folding the paper and stuffing it in my back pocket.

"With this, it shuts off all signals around the house but it will only last fifteen minutes so you need to be out by then," Chase said while holding up a circular brown object full of wires.

"We could meet up at the park a few blocks from here," he said as he pressed a red button on the object.

"Wait for my signal to start moving in," he said as he threw it.

The object made a small thud on the roof and Chase let out a breathe saying something. I took off my bag that was and pulled out my gloves.

"What?" I asked slipping them on.

"Freddie that's the name of the device," he said with a smile, leaving me dumbfounded as he moved from our spot closer to the mansion.

Now that's a good conversation starter for later.

I chuckled at the thought while waiting for Chase's signal. After a few seconds I see Chase pick up a rock and throw it at a large glass window making it shatter everywhere. He runs out the bushes as the security run over to him, he knocks down a few guards and jumps over a fence making his way to the back of the mansion the guards yelling after him.

Wait was that the signal.

I'm still waiting frustrated then I decide it was the signal and sprint to the broken window and jump through. I crash into the wall once I'm inside and a security spots me. His hand flies to the walkie on his shoulder and I rush toward him throwing myself into his stomach dropping both me and him.

I quickly get up and yank the walkie from him and run up the stairs pulling out the paper from my back pocket.

Right. I see two security guards sitting in a room looking at a bunch of screens filled with static. I slipped into a room letting out a sigh that "Freddie" is working.

"Did you hear that?" one of the guards say and I slowly close the door of the room I'm in.

 "No," the other replied.

I hear footsteps coming up the hall and I mentally curse my life.

"Someone's in the house," the guard from earlier yells.

I hear the two people in the security rooms chairs fly against the wall as they all run into the hall and begin to argue about why he didn't stop me. I hear one march up stairs while the other two are checking the rooms.

I sneak towards the window and lightly pull it up. I can hear them getting closer and I place the paper in my back pocket again as I slid out the window and cling to the building. I try to pull the window down with my free hand manage to close it while the guard throws the door open. My hand flies onto the building and I look up and see an open window in the third floor.

I move my left hand off the building and pull the paper out my back pocket. The room with the x is on the third floor. I look back up and count the windows. 1st ...2nd ...3rd window is the one open. I look back down at the paper and it's the room across the fifth window marked x.

"It'll have to do," I say trying to calm myself placing the paper back in its spot and I flip myself around until my front is pressed against the building.

I begin climbing up and I could hear the guard from the second hall saying it's clear as he moves up the stairs.

I began rushing to the open window and I reach up and grab ahold of the bottom. I could hear the guard opening the first door and I lift my feet against the building and hurry myself up but end up swinging forward, smacking myself into the building. My face immediately began aching but I forced myself up and in the window.

Time, I didn't know how much time I have left or how long Chase will be distracting the other guards. Once I heard the guard open the second door and walk in I snuck out and made my way to the x room. Sliding in the door and slowly closing it behind me I look around the bedroom for something I could use this combination for.

I look under the bed and found nothing. I moved towards the closet, there were no secret walls and no hidden safes. I looked under every picture but didn't find anything. I stood still as I heard the guard getting close.
