Hi everyone! I hope you're enjoying this book. I'm really excited to say that I've just switched my major to English xD I've been very conflicted about whether I should keep writing because I've always loved it but not a lot of people support the idea. But who cares! Writing is fun and writing DITB especially brings me a lot of joy. I love to read all your comments and I know I make some typos( I blame my cat who sees me on the laptop but always steps on my keyboard :3) but I will clean up this book once I'm done. Do you guys want to guess how many more chapters there are left? :P
Anyways, thank you all and I'll be trying to update chapters every Friday so let's see how that goes!
Chapter 44
"Ughhhhhhh." I tried to think of a smart reply but I was honestly thrown off. Absolutely no words came to mind.
"Are you going to sit?" My mom said with a nervous smile. She looked like I felt on the inside; like a wreck.
Well if I could hide how I felt. If she didn't think I was nervous before she definitely did now. When I went to sit down I didn't pull the chair back so my hips hit the table and it violently rocked sending her water over. Then when I went to grab the cup I just ended up pushing it on my mom's lap.
"Oh my!" she yelped sitting up fast as the ice fell off her lap.
I held myself up on the table by my elbow facing her. "At least you won't be hot...."
She chuckled lightly and an employee made his way over to clean up the mess and give my mom some washcloths.
After all that awkwardness we finally, and peacefully sat down to talk.
"I know you're probably wondering why I'm here..." She looked at me to see if I had anything to say but I didn't. "I want you to come with me to England. I hope it's not too late for you to forgive me... you see after... your dad passed away, he took me with him." She took a break and bit her quivering lip.
I had never seen so much emotion on someone before. I felt bad for her and I understood why she felt like she had to go find herself again. "But I'm going to be 18 in a year..."
"I'm still your legal guardian, and I would love it if we could get close... I've missed a lot." She looked at me with a kind smile, and in it I saw her regret.
"That would be nice... but I've got a life here. I actually have my own place too." Technically I did.
She looked surprised and her brows furrowed. "You're not living with Mike. You're too young to be on your own. At England there are really good colleges, you can pick any you want."
"The schools here are fine." I said that really short and quick. I was slightly bothered that she thought I couldn't be on my own, she doesn't know me.
I think she sensed that I was getting irritated because she switched the subject. She didn't talk about England anymore and we just ate peacefully together.
We talked about my school and I talked about my "work". I wasn't about to tell my mom that I was in a fight club so instead I told her I was a trainer at a gym. She seemed to like Drake even though I told her he was a big jerk who always shows off.
"You know, your father used to be really mean too. He was always teasing me because I wasn't as cool as him and the other kids at school. He could be really cruel... but maybe that's what made his sweet moments that much better..." She teared up a bit but still laughed. "He grew up to be a fine man."
She told me more stories of my dad but there was one that caught my heart. " Did you know when you were born he ran all the way to the hospital? The doctors told us you were going to be a boy and when he saw you were a girl he cried and laughed so happily. He told me he thought I was the most beautiful girl he had ever seen, but that looking at you... he had to rethink everything he ever knew." She laughed heartily as she reminisced.
