Chapter 8
Think Chaya.
Suddenly I stopped, examining the room. This was a mansion, I thought to myself and suddenly I saw that this room compared to the other ones was smaller, in fact this might be the smallest room. There has to be an extra room or something every movie has an extra room its only logic.
The guard started making his way into this room and I headed for the window.I turned my head about to pull the window up when something on the ground caught my attention. By the bed were small track marks. The bed's been moved.
I walked toward the bed, grabbing the headboard and pulling the bed backwards. No doubt catching the attention of the guard because the last thing I saw before sneaking into the hidden wall was the door flying open. I had to walk with my back against the wall to fit in this thin hallway.
Then the hallway widened and stopped at another wall. Pushing the wall forward I ended up in another room. This room was more of an office making it obvious that the safe was behind a picture. Duh.
Yes I watch too much movies. But when I moved one of the pictures there was the safe, so in yo' face!
I placed in the combination and threw out piles of paper until I saw the silver box. Opening it I saw a silver necklace and a charm with pearls in a circle and a single diamond stud in the middle clinging to it. Closing the box back up I opened the window and climbed down.
I don't get why people have doors anyways, I mean windows are so much more convenient.
I took in the scenery of the colorful playground enjoying the feel of the afternoon sun on my skin as I waited for Chase. My head was hung back as I rocked myself upward into the air and back going higher and higher. I kept my eyes opened until the cool wind forced me to shut them. I opened my eyes again, the wind only lightly brushing against me.
I could hear a few people pass by me and the children running around yelling. Despite the noise I could feel myself drifting away into a deeper and sweet serene. My hold on the chains loosened, the warm metal slipping out of my hands as the swing slowed down and darkness took over.
I let out a small whimper as the cool air danced on my skin making me snuggle myself deeper into the warmth beside me. I buried my face into the intoxicating smell of lavender and found myself drooling at the scent.
My bed then began laughing, its vibration making me shift with it.
"Stop, you stupid bed," I mumbled, feeling myself drift back to sleep.
"But your drooling on me," a manlier voice than my actual bed whined.
My eyes snapped open and I jumped back staring at Chase who was taking off his now drooled on jacket with a playful smile plastered on his face.
"Uh," was all I managed to choke out as I looked around seeing the same park from before.
"It's amazing you know," Chase said as he placed his jacket and turned until he was facing me.
"What?" I croaked out, his eyes focusing on my lips as he reached forward brushing his thumb over the corner of my lip.
"I've never met anyone who falls asleep on the swings," he chuckled softly, his eyes moving back up to mine his smile fading as he stiffened.
I could feel my face burning and my lips part to say something but I remained silent my breathing quickening my wide eyes glued to his unreadable ones.
After a few minutes he pulled his hand away.
Sorry it was drool," he said "I'm used to taking care of my little cousins so", he finishes awkwardly as I shut my mouth trying to fix my flustered state.
He lets out a throaty cough, stands up and starts dusting his clothes as I took the moment to try and force the blush back which only frustrated me more, making me angrily pull on my cheeks until he turned around and I quickly moved my hands to my side.
Chase let out a small chuckle as he saw my cheeks then offers his hand and I hesitantly reached for it. The moment I take his hand a weird feeling comes over me and surprised I yanked him down barely catching my footing as I almost followed.
I turned around and originally planned to apologize but the moment I saw him and I opened my mouth I burst out laughing. A split second after I began laughing my mind was cussing me out until Chase joined in and I was relieved by the distraction.
"You're not even going to help me," Chase asked and I could tell he was a bad actor because the little devil in him was as clear as day.
I pretended to think tapping a finger on my chin focusing on him.
"No," I said shaking my head then pivoting my feet as I walked away.
Chase soon jogged up beside me and I turned giving him an innocent smile that turned into a huge toothy grin as I saw the building across the street. Chase followed my eyes to the red and white ice cream shop before he turned to me shaking his head no.
I grabbed hold of his arm, pulling him past the cars that honked at us and into the shop.
"It's freezing outside and you want ice cream," Chase asked in disbelief as the bell signaling customers rang above the doorway.
I ignored his little complaints about the cold weather as I walked up to the blue haired cashier.
"Welcome, what do you want?" the girl said dryly.
"Hmmm....I'll have ....the rocky road."
The girl let out a sigh of irritation as she made her way towards the glass with different ice cream selections.
"Wait!" I yelled just as she was about to scoop the rocky road.
"I want the rainbow sherbet," I said as she rolled her eyes and moved above the ice cream.
"No! I change my mind I want chocolate chip," I yelled again just as she was about to scoop.
This went on for about five minutes until I declared that I wanted peanut butter ice cream all along while Chase simply ordered plain vanilla.
While leaving I looked back at the blue hair girl who was glaring at me and stuck my tongue out as Chase pushed the door open.
"Wow she wanted to murder you," Chase laughed once we were out of the shop.
"And I wanted service with a smile," I replied enjoying my ice cream.
We walked, the only noise around us were cars. I looked up at Chase as his eyes caught mine and I could see just how much taller he was then me that I have to crane my neck upwards to see him.
"Punch buggy," he suddenly blurt out, punching me on the arm making me drop my ice cream.
I stood in shock looking at the gorgeous peanut butter ice cream splattered on the ground.
Sorry," Chase said as my burning eyes went up.
He stood still rubbing his palm on the back of his neck his eyes looking everywhere but me
"Well it's no big-", he stopped as he took a glance at me then did a quick double take.
"Wait, are you crying?" he asked his voice cracking with a hint of humor.
"You just killed my peanut butter," I pouted as my eyes went back to the melting brown on the cement.
"Uh...we could just get more," Chase said hesitantly as I stared at him defiantly, the tears that welled up slipping.
"Nothing can replace that peanut butter ice cream; it was one of a kind!" I yelled grabbing hold of his arms shaking him as he looked at me dumbfounded.
"Die!!" I shouted as I threw (technically pushed) him into the busy street beside us.
I continued walking rubbing my eyes as I ignored Chase's yells and the honking of the horns.
"I don't care how much I love you," I mumbled secretly glancing back seeing Chase jump over a car and land safely on the sidewalk, I reluctantly let out a sigh but the sight of the melted peddle had me storming off again.
