Sky-
I woke up choking on sand. I knew it was sand because of the gritty texture and sour taste that resembled sea water but more like pickles. I rubbed my blurry eyes and looked around me, confused. I'm on a small island the size of a large living room, no plant or animals in sight. I stand up and feel a rush of horror....where are the others! I sigh in relief when I spot Alice, Simon, and Jasper wandering aimlessly on the island, their faces a look of dumbfounded confusion at our current situation. what happened. then another thought struck me....Where was July?"Sky! " Simon catches my gaze and runs towards me, followed by Alice and Jasper, who I still find to be suspicious sometimes..he is awfully quiet....
"Simon!!! what happened.....were's July!!" I gasped, hugging him tightly, ignoring the heat between us and try to focus more on being sad and confused and terrified.
"July's not here!!!!! WHAT IF SHE'S DEAD....WERE IS SHEEEE!!!!!! I BETTER GO FLY AWAY AND SEARCH FOR HER! " Alice's eyes almost bulged out of her watery sockets as she tugged at her brown hair and yelled frantically.
"Calm down, Alice.." Jasper put a hand on Alice's shoulder, "We'll find her, don't worry. "
I glanced from Alice's red face, slowly receding to a mellow pink, and Jaspers calm attitude. I shook my head and looked behind me at the vast ocean. What happened? was July still on the boat?....I hope so...
"Sky! Hurry!! I found something! " I followed Simons voice to the outside of a cave. how did I not notice that?
The four of us ran over to were Simon is and stand at the mouth of the cave, each craning our necks, trying to focus our eyes enough to see if we could spot something in the dark entrance. Then we heard a voice calling to us from inside....a voice that needs help.
"Help! please! " the shrill voice of a girl calls from inside. Then I smelled the fire..the smoke coming from inside the cave, burning my nostrils.
With out thinking, Alice puffed out her chest..to no use.....and we watched as her wings popped out in a blur of shiny black, and watched in horror as Alice dashed into the smoking cave and came back out a few horrifying minutes later with a girl in her arms. Alice placed the girl, who had fainted in the commotion, on the ground and I had a better chance to examine her as Simon and Jasper went to tending to her, I having to occasionally produce a certain medical plant for them. The girl looked around the same age of us, maybe a couple years younger. She had a long ponytail, her hair a striking red. Her clothes were oddly normal for this world, faded blue jeans and a gray hoodie. I could see her hands were scorching, black smoke curling up from her finger tips. She twitched and any traced of fire or smoke disappeared from her hands. She had fire powers. That was obvious. I felt the gut wrenching feeling that I already knew this girl. Was she the cause of us being separated from July? what is her story. I later found out her name.....and how I already knew her. How she is my cousin...Mara.
