Chapter 54

  I'll always remember the sickening guilt I felt when I made that deal with Ezra, and when I just stood there....just stood there and watched him die. Everyone else either cried and kneeled down to him or cursed words at Ezra. But I just stood there.....my mouth a gap and tears spilling down my cheeks. Jasper...he cant be dead...I was just starting to realize how much I....Oh god...I need to do something.

  Ezra was rolling her eyes and strolling away up the cave..so casually! After she just killed someone! Someone I cared very much about! I ignored  my friends pleading calls as I flew as fast as I could towards the evil woman, a rage I never felt buried deep in me. I did something I never knew I could do next...I did something I'll regret later on..Please, try to understand.....The next thing I will do is nothing like me....It was something surged forward by anger....and sadness. Please...forgive me.

I flapped my wings, floated over the wicked witch......and killed her with my eyes. I stared into her eyes and felt a cold surge of power pelt forward from my pupils and watched as she fell down in a misty pile of ash. I floated back down and stared shocked at the pile of....Ezra. She.....I'm not a killer but she....I knelt down and began to cry, then I felt two hands on my shoulders and looked up to see the sad, smiling faces of my best friends. Then I saw the limp body of Jasper in Simon and Zayne's feeble arms. I sniffed and stood up, following them outside, across the valley we trudged across to get her, past the stricken ocean of memories, and to the beach.
There I freely let my tears fall as we made a beautiful raft out of flowers, carved logs, and shining weeds and placed Jasper on it. We then pushed him out into the sea as the sun dipped lower below the horizon and I felt my tears diminish. Where we will go next, I don't know. But I know...I love you Jasper.
