Chapter 42

Alice-

I felt a burst of exhilaration as me, Sky, Jasper, and Simon walk back to the castle. We have been walking for a couple days and I know from experience that we'll be there in about another two days. I cant wait to see July. Also, remind me not to get too excited. I dropped the pearl globe thingy in the ocean. Sky got a little mad. But were cool.

"Hey Alice! can you go fly up and see how far we are from the city? We'll wait down here " Sky said, looking up at the canopy of trees above her.

"Yeah, sure" I felt my wings come out and kicked off the ground, casually flying through the trees into the blue sky above. I looked down, I couldn't see my friends through the canopy of trees. I flew a couple feet away from were I was and looked into the distance. I saw the city. A melting sweep of horror washed through me and I swallowed my tears. It was almost burnt down to nothing. I began to fly back down but stopped at the beautiful blue horizon above me, glimmering in all it's majesty. It looked like a pastel cup of blue paint in the clouds. It was wonderful. It was later that I found out it was only a distraction from what happened next.

I felt the cold matter grasp my arms and neck and wings before I saw it. I screamed, but no sound came as the dark cloud pulled me up through the blue sparkly cloud ceiling. On the other side of the cloud was darkness. I could not see a thing but felt the cold matter still clutching onto me. I screamed silently like that until we came to a city. But not a wondrous city of diamonds..... The black city of Obsidian. Home to the sky walkers.
