Chapter 32

I decide to sneak out of the barrier of kelp curtain and find the boy that resembles Zayne. What if it is him? what if I can save him from the clutches of mermaid....evil? I really have no idea about these mermaids. They saved me....does that mean there keeping me so later on they can cook me up and eat me? or are they just really nice to some people....wait...can you even cook under water at all?

I take in my surroundings as I venture out into the city and I'm not to impressed . It's nothing like the golden, shimmering castles from the little mermaid. All they have are millions of coral houses bunched together, all the color of creamy white or dull gray. I get various bloody cuts from skinning my hand along the rough coral.

I make it through the bustling mermaid city with only a few odd looks casted my way before I make it to the dark ally way that holds the coral prison cells. Three mermen guard the etrances on both sides of the long ally way. They all have shimmering green tails that are extremely skinny and long, the fins transperent in the water. They all of moustaches of various colors that are decorated with undersea flowers.

"Stop! arent you the measly human the foolish kings daughter saved?" The guard with the short black beard huffed, pointing his silver trident at my chest.

"Hah!" the second guard with the long blonde beard cackled, "Such a foolish mermaid she is....saving your kind! we don't need another mouth to feed......anyway.....whats your business here!? "

My eyes widen, "Daughter of the king..what...I was saved by a princess!!!!!" I felt my self think about the little mermaid again saving her beloved prince , "I ship you with the daughter that saved me! " I point my finger excitedly at the youngest man with...no beard. He inched farther away from me, shocked and confused.

"Okay.....whatever.. " Black beard rolled his eyes and nudged me with his trident,"Now tell me..what's your business here! "

I gulp down my anxiety at his question and speak, causing mini bubbles to float up from my mouth "I want to look around....I think i might have spotted someone I know... "

Black beard scratched his chin and huffed, looking me up and down before replying "Well....We'll be watching you. And..make it quick!"

That was easier than expected. I walk slowly through the water and peered into every coral cell, hoping to spot that boy that resembled Zayne or, I hope, is Zayne.

Finally, near the middle of the prison hall, I spot a small coral cell fit for one person and place my hands on the coral bars, making sure not to cut myself, and tried to make out the hunched figure through the dark water.

"Zayne?" i call cautiously.

"Yes?" A voice calls back. The voice sounds exactly like Zayne and I began to feel more hopeful.

"Is it you! Are you Sky's brother?" I feel myself began to get impatient, "its me....July!"

Zayne comes forwards and I see him....He's wearing a white tang top halfway concealed by a leather jacket and a pair of scuffed up jeans, the ripped string floating up with the water. except it's not Zayne. Once i get a closer look, the only difference from this boy and Zayne is that this person has a mole on the right side of his neck.

"I'm sorry..your..not the Zayne i know," I sigh and began to walk back towards the guards when he calls to me.

"Wait! But I am Sky's brother!I am Zayne's brother too! I'm Zaine...except spelled different..I'm Zaynes twin brother. I'm so glad you found me. The mermaids stole me from my family a few months before Sky was taken to earth....please...help me get back home, " He said. I stood there in shock and stared at this boy.

"I'll help you," I agreed. but there was one thing I'm truly worried about...getting Zayne and Zaine mixed up.
