July (P.O.V)-

I wake up to my dry throat itching in the back of my neck. What is up with me and being so thirsty? I don't see any body else thirsty! I sit up and look around. There still asleep. I can't stand up in the hollow out or else my head would get stuck in the thin hollow hole leading up through the tree trunk like a chimney. I crouch and skuttle like a crab in a tight wedge out of the hole in the tree. It's bright enough outside to be late morning.

I stretch my back and legs and yawn loudly, scattering a small group of red squirrels chittering by the tree. The sky is blue and there is no possible chance of rain. I pout and glance down at the empty water jug by my feet. I close my eyes and a smile invades my cracked lips and I raise my hands to my head as if in prayer. Soon I can feel drops of water on my raised fore head and smile. It worked. I look down at my hands..it worked!

I throw my hand up towards the sky and with a small thought transferred to my pulsing fingertip, a bolt of lightning thunders up in the blue sky and black clouds form to shroud the sun from view. The rain gets heavier.

I raise the jug over my head and listen, eyes closed, to the sound of the rain filling up in the jug, plink pop pitter patter. When it is full and I can feel the over flow of the water spilling over the top and soaking my knotted bunch of hair. I raise the heavy jug to my lips and sip at it thirstily. After I am done drinking, I do not stop the rain. I sit in the grass and feel it pelting my body softly and wait for my friends to wake up.
