"So you nervous to start your new job today?" Abby asked as she came into my room with coffee.
"A little bit. I mean wouldn't you be?" I asked as I took one of the cups from her.
"Nervous about working with our favorite band? Maybe just a little bit. Are you wearing make up?" Abby asked as I went over to my closet. I was wearing make up and I never wore make up. I wanted to look my best for work, or so I was letting myself believe.
"Just a little for work. Trying to look professional for sitting around waiting for someone to tell me to do something," I replied as I picked out a shirt that had a grey front with a sheer floral back to wear with my jeans.
"Uh huh sure. I'm sure you're not trying to look your best for the number 1 on both your lead singer and drummer list," Abby said as she walked away from my door.
She knew me a little too well for my own good. I finished getting ready and drank my coffee before I headed off to my first day of working for the Foo Fighters. I was hired as an assistant pretty much. If I was told to get any one of them something or they asked me to do anything for them, I had to do it. I got into my car and headed down to Studio 606 West. I was almost there and stopped at a red light when I heard my phone go off. I checked it and saw it was Abby wishing me good luck. I texted back a quick thanks and I'd see her later. I pulled into the parking lot of the studio and saw the infamous van. I was a little early so I stayed in my car and had a smoke. I had my eyes closed while I listened to the radio when I heard a tap at my window. I opened my eyes and saw it was Dave. I rolled down my window and turned the radio off.
"Hey I was just having a smoke before I came in," I said as he leaned down into the window.
"I was coming out here for one myself. Care if I join you?" Dave asked. I nodded yes and moved my purse off the passenger seat as he walked around and got in. He lit a smoke once he was inside. "So you excited to start work today?"
"I'm more excited over the fact that you guys are finally getting off your asses and making new music," I replied and he let out a classic Dave laugh.
"Someone's a little on the sassy side today," Dave said and I smiled as I put my smoke out in the special cup holder ashtray I had in the car.
"Always am. I'm a sassy bean," I responded with.
"Oh you're going to fit right in with us then. Hey we should go get some coffee before everyone gets here," Dave said as he put his smoke out in the ashtray.
"Sure. I could always use some more coffee," I replied.
"I'm going to go lock the door and we'll go get come fresh pots," Dave said and he got out of the car. I started the car and put my purse in the back as he came back and got in the car. I backed out and went where Dave told me to go. We went in and got coffee for everyone and headed back to the studio. When we got there, two other cars were there.
"Looks like Nate and Taylor are here," Dave said as we headed inside. We walked into the console room and Taylor was sitting on the couch. He looked up as we walked in.
"I was wondering where the fuck you were. I thought you where here when I saw the van but the door was locked," he said as we put the coffee down.
"We went to get coffee before everyone got here. Had to show Brittany where to get the good coffee," Dave replied as Taylor walked over to us and grabbed his coffee.
"Good idea. Don't need you firing her because she got the wrong kind of coffee," Taylor replied and they both laughed as Nate walked in. I laughed too but it was an awkward laugh. Dave stopped when he saw the look on my face.
"I wouldn't do that. I'm not that big of an asshole," he said and I smiled a bit as I took my coffee and went over to the couch and sat down.
Once everyone else showed up and had their coffees, they started working. I pretty much just sat on the couch observing everything for most of the day. I did pick up lunch when they had finally decided what they all wanted. Dave had also asked me if I could run out and pick up something for him. At the end of the night it was just Taylor, Dave, Butch, and myself left. I got a text from Abby asking if I was still at the studio while they were listening to the last take that Taylor did. I responded back with a yes as Taylor sat down beside me.
"Who you texting?" he asked.
"My best friend and room mate Abby. She was asking if I was still here and I just told her yes," I replied.
"Is she cute?" he asked as she texted back again but I ignored it. I went into my pictures and showed him a picture of her. Taylor's mouth fell open when he saw her.
"What's that look for?" Dave asked as he sat on the other side of me.
"Her best friend is gorgeous. Is she single?" Taylor asked with a huge smile on his face.
"I thought you where married?" I asked in return and his smiled faded.
"I don't want to talk about it but we're separating," he replied and I frowned a bit. Poor Taylor.
"Ya she's single," I said and his smile came back.
"You should bring her by someday. You can introduce us," he replied and elbowed me.
"That's not what we hired her for," Dave said as he laughed.
"I didn't tell Britt she had to bring her by. I suggested she should bring her by," Taylor said in defense.
"Taylor actually has a point there. What are you doing tonight? We can ditch the married man and you can meet the wonderful Abby. She's the female version of you," I said as I shifted on the couch so that I was slightly facing Taylor more.
"I'm completely free and would fucking love that. Fuck," Taylor yelled in excitement as he stood up. As he walked out of the room he kept saying it and Dave and I both laughed.
"Well someone is extreme stoked now," Dave said once we stopped laughing.
"I'm going to make Abby's night. I should text her back before she calls," I said and went to see what she sent.
"I'm picking up chinese for dinner. Are you going to be home soon?"
"Mmmm that sounds amazing. Get enough for like 4 people. We're having a guest for dinner ;) See you soon girlie" I sent back before Taylor came back into the room.
"I look ok right?" Taylor asked and I couldn't help but smile a bit at how adorable he was being.
"You look fine. She won't care," I replied as I stood up and walked over to my purse. I put my phone inside and turned around, that's when I realized Butch and Taylor were both gone. "Where'd they go?"
"Taylor went outside to wait for you and Butch left awhile ago," Dave replied as he picked up a guitar and started playing it.
"Do you want me to get coffee before I come here tomorrow?" I asked as I headed towards the door.
"If you want to. You could always come here first and we could go together," he replied as I stood in the doorway. Dave looked over at me and I smiled slightly.
"That would probably be a smart idea. Knowing me I'd end up wearing all those coffees," I replied and we both chuckled.
"Come an hour earlier and we'll get the coffee and then find some things for you to do so you're not bored out of your mind again tomorrow," Dave said as Taylor walked into the door.
"Sounds good and I wasn't bored out of mind," I replied as Taylor started walking towards me.
"Can we go meet this room mate of yours please?" Taylor asked as he stood beside me. I looked at Dave and nodded his head as to say go.
"Night Dave. See ya tomorrow," I said and he waved before I headed home with Taylor.
