Chapter 14 - Sleeping With The Enemy

When I woke on Monday morning, I had my monthly visitor. Dave understood and we kept things somewhat mild for the week. On Friday before we ended for the day, Dave gave me his address and told me what time to be there. Taylor chimed in and said he could just give me a ride when he picked Abby up. When I got home, I showered and got dressed. I was picking out a dress when Abby came upstairs after getting home.

"Play it safe tonight and go for the pink one. It's not as sexy," Abby said as she walked by.

"Thanks girlie," I shouted as she walked by to her room.

I put the pink dress with butterflies on it on the hook beside my closet and went to go do my hair and make up. After I got dressed and put on my pink blossom wedges on. I was downstairs and ready before Abby was. I poured two glasses of wine and took one up to Abby. I was coming back down when the doorbell rang. I opened it and there was Taylor.

"Abby's not ready yet but you can go up if you want," I said as I walked back into the kitchen and poured more wine into my glass. I was drinking more than I normally did. I was nervous beyond nervous.

"I'm cool with waiting. Take it easy on that stuff tonight. As far as Jordyn is concerned, just try to avoid being alone with Dave for too long. If she sees you two alone, she'll come over. Abby and I will keep things from getting awkward," Taylor said as I took a huge sip of wine.

"I just don't want to meet this dude she wants me to meet. It's a business dinner as far as I'm concerned. No funny business," I said as Abby came down. I finished my wine and sprayed my perfume on me.

"How many of those have you had?" Abby asked as Taylor helped her put on her coat.

"Two," I replied and gave her a peace sign.

"Well we're in for an interesting night then. Let's go," Abby said as Taylor opened the door.

We walked out the door and to Taylor's car. Taylor opened Abby's door for her while I got in the back. Taylor drove us to Dave's and when we got there, my nerves got worse and I could really feel the two glasses of wine. Abby stood beside me as Taylor rang the door bell. Dave answered the door with Ophelia in his arms.

"Hey guys come on in. What can I get you guys to drink?" Dave asked.

"Wine for me and Britt will have a water for now," Abby replied as we walked in. I smiled at her and she winked back.

"Got it. Taylor beer or wine?" Dave asked.

"Wine please but just the one. I'm driving these two tonight," Taylor responded with as we walked into the living room with Dave.

"Oh Brittany you came. Dave said he wasn't sure if you were coming tonight. Said you weren't feeling that great," Jordyn said when she walked into the living room with a plate of food. Dave walked past her into the kitchen after putting Ophelia down.

"Oh I had a glass of wine while I was getting ready. Fixed it right up," I replied. Abby elbowed me and I just smiled.

"Well glad you came. I can't wait for you to meet this guy. He's cute, smart, your age and is extremely single," Jordyn said with an awkward smile. Dave came back from the kitchen with two wine glasses and a glass of water. He gave Abby and Taylor they're drinks before handing me mine.

"I'm not looking for anything right now. I just got out of a relationship," I said back as Dave stood beside me.

"Well it doesn't hurt to meet him. Oh that must be him," Jordyn said and ran off to answer the door.

"Why aren't you drinking right now?" Dave whispered to me.

"She had two glasses before we got here," Abby whispered back. I stood there and just nodded with a smile on my face.
