Raven's Point of View

To say that first period was awkward was a complete understatement. Although if it weren't for Casey or Leah making silly jokes and weird conversations, I wouldn't have survived the class.

"Raven, you've been very quiet, is something wrong?" Cora asked as I looked at her with an unreadable expression.

"It's just that it's harder than I expected." I let out a sigh. "I just thought that maybe it wouldn't be so difficult to be around him, that's all."

Cut me some slack. I still like the dam guy.

"Well what did you expect, you're in love with him," Cora said. "Of course, it's hard. You're trying to keep a distance, but you know it's not going to work."

I was silent for a moment, trying to find the right words to respond, but I just couldn't. I mean, did I love him, or was it mere childhood crush moment? Since I didn't speak and had an even more serious look, Cora continued.

"It takes time, Raven. You know that. It won't be easy, but maybe with him around; you can both fix each other's broken pieces." Cora added.

"I don't know about the broken pieces," I say as I put away my belongings.

"Are you going to eat that?" I asked Trish.

For lunch, they had given out pizza and some fries with mashed potatoes. At least that's what we were told.

"Yes. Yes, I am, I don't share my food." Trish quickly states. So I just finished my smashed potatoes, but out of the blue, I see a slice of pizza on my plate.

"You always eat more than one slice," Malakai said as he took his seat next to me. "Thank you. I'm starving." I said, trying to keep my fresh. Inwardly I was in hysterics.

Gavin and Cora were talking to each other. By the looks of it, Gavin was flirting with her, and Everette was practically fuming. Couldn't blame him though, Gavin broke her heart too.

"Don't worry, Gavin means well," Malakai spoke up, looking at Everette. Everette instantly turned to look at Malakai. If only his eyes were made of bullets, I'm sure Malakai would be dead by now.

"How would you know? He's probably like you or worse." Everette snapped. Oh no, I should start preparing for war.

"What's that suppose to mean, Remington?" Malakai snapped back. Great, just what I needed, two boys fighting each other today. "Everette, relax. There's no need for this," I stated, taking hold of his arm.

"No, he needs to know that I don't like him at all." Everette started. "Because of him, you were in pain. And there's no way in hell I'll let Gavin near my sister."

By now, I'm pretty sure every single person in the cafeteria was looking at us. "Everette, not here, not today," Cora added as she scooted away from Gavin.

"No, it's fine, let him speak," Malakai stated angrily.

I knew one way or another. Everette would snap. I simply didn't expect him to blow up in school.

"It's your entire fault that Raven was in pain. If you hurt Raven, then for sure, Gavin will hurt Cora again." Everette snapped.

Okay, so maybe Malakai was at fault for leading me on, but he sure didn't place a gun on my forehead to do such things to myself.

"I didn't hurt Raven," Malakai stated. "To hell with that, you used my cousin. You played around with her heart." Everette snapped. "And you want to know something else too?"
