• Chapter Twenty-Three •
Malakai's Point of View
Today I had to deal with another exchange, and this time, Clayton tagged along. It was a complete failure. Shane's guys showed up and started shooting at us. We had to leave the merchandise on the spot and came empty-handed to Blaise's place. To say he was livid was a complete understatement of the year.
"He will pay for this," Blaise shouted as he punched his desk. "Well, I say to hell with him. We must show him what we're capable of," Clayton stated as he winced from the pain.
"Blaise that's suicide if we do this, we need a plan if we want to attack." I tried to reason with him as Clayton shot me a glare.
He thought about it for a while until he finally let out a sigh. "As much as I hate him, Malakai is right. We can't just attack; we need a plan and a good one." Blaise finally spoke up.
"So what now, boss?" CJ asked. "First of all, see if we can do something about the exchange. Malakai, I'm going to need you to be focused, no distractions." Blaise stated.
I simply nod. "We also have to make a few phone calls to get more weapons. We need to train the others more." Blaise added.
As he explained what had to be done, my mind could only think of Raven. No matter the years or how many girls I've been with, she's always in my head. It's a very cynical thought of mine, but I wanted to make things right for the first time.
Speaking of, I felt my phone vibrate from my back pocket. It was a text message from Raven.
"I'll be back later on. I have to leave." I informed Blaise. "I hope you don't disappoint me, Kai," Blaise spoke up before I left.
Of course, I won't. Who am I kidding, it's me we're talking about. I thought to myself and quickly drove away.
Raven's Point of View
As much as I didn't like coming to school, unfortunately, we were forced to come. Luckily it was nearing lunch, meaning it was almost over. Malakai didn't show up. He had a few things to do. I honestly didn't even feel like coming today, but then again, there isn't much to do at home.
"Gavin, do you, by any chance, know what Malakai has been doing?" I ask. "Well...you see, I don't know what he's up to anymore," Gavin stated, scratching the back of his neck.
He was hiding something, that much was evident. "Why don't you text him, he hasn't been answering my texts." Gavin quickly added. Which I did do, I went down to Kai's cell phone number and sent a quick text.
Malakai Crane
Raven 12:45 pm: Are you busy? I thought we could have lunch. That is if you want, of course.
Delivered ✔️
I was hesitant to send it, but I did it anyway. I'm a bit curious as to why he didn't come today. Lately, he's been so busy that he's been ditching out on us.
In less than ten minutes, I received a text message from him.
Malakai 12:51 pm: I'll be there in ten, I'll be waiting in the parking lot.

I don't know why, but I was smiling from ear to ear.
