Declan's Point of View

"Here, let me finish this up for you," Shay suggested.

Cora was in charge of Raven's routine, but she hasn't been sleeping much. Cora only nodded as she sat down on the chair.

"Why don't you go home and get some sleep. She'll be fine, you know, if she wakes up, I'll call you right away." I told her as I gave her my jacket.

"Fine, but please call me if she wakes up." I nodded as Gavin took hold of her hand.

He's been so much better since Raven started to show signs. Everette is currently downstairs with Alessandra. In the course of Raven's accident, we found out that Mrs. Crane was diagnosed with cancer. Alessandra mentioned that it was found in its early stages, which is good because there's a chance of full recovery but also bad because it can get worse.

I honestly don't know how Alessandra can keep her head held high. She's incredibly strong to stay positive. I mean, I couldn't keep mine held high. As for Malakai, he hasn't shown up at all.

How could a brother not stand alongside his sister? That's absolute crap, Alessandra needs her brother now more than ever, and he doesn't dare to show up. If he cared about my sister the way he said he did, she wouldn't be here in the first place. But most importantly, he should at least be here with his sister. I know Blaise had warned us that Malakai would make a decision, but I never thought his decision would send my sister to the hospital.

"Hey Declan, do you want some coffee?" Vincent's voice suddenly brought me back to reality.

I nodded as he walked out of the room. Leaving me with Shay, she's been so supportive to us. It's hard to find someone with such a kind heart like herself.

"You know you are by far the only family I've gotten close to while in my job. I wish I had a family like yours." Shay spoke up as she finished writing down on the clipboard.

"You weren't close to your family?" I asked in confusion. Sure I knew the basics of Shay but not so much about personal information.

"No, well, my mother passed away due to cancer, and my father wasn't there for me. After my mom died, my father just kept me as a servant. My brother left once he turned eighteen, and he only calls once and while to check up on me. So I grew up a bit rough, kind of what you and your family have gone through." I was left speechless with the new information.

Sometimes life could be harsh to those who are only good. I do hate those types of parents who end up using their children after one of them passes away.

"I didn't think you would have had so much darkness in your past. I mean, you're always so bright and joyful that it's hard to notice." I spoke truthfully, even if this conversation was getting a whole lot serious.

But I couldn't just stand here and not acknowledge someone like Shay. She's been there for us from the start of this whole accident. Shay stayed quiet as she started to play around with the pen in her hand.

"It's not something I'd like talking about." She said as she left the room.

Life is complicated, but somehow, we learn to deal with it. Although death isn't a thing, we can escape from. But I know that Raven is going to wake up very soon and I'm glad that for once, life isn't being difficult.
