They passed hundreds of dead and injured, some with limbs missing as an impact from the explosions that were still thundering on in the distance.
"You know, if someone asked me if I thought I'd be in the middle of world war two, I'd think they'd taken something to mess with their mind." Rufus muttered, his eyes darting from left to right, half in search of Flynn, the other half in search of anyone who hated the existence of black people, because that seemed a real problem every time he traveled back in time.
The soldier led them to an empty coffee-stained tent, barely standing, gesturing the three inside. He pointed at the boys.

"In ten minutes the rested soldiers will be called to return to battle, that means you two." Lucy felt an instant wave of panic, looking at the boys then to the soldier. She knew them going out to battle meant they're most likely going to die, that they were practically being sentenced to death.

"No!" Lucy exclaimed, stepping towards the man. "Her majesty, the queen ordered me to make sure they didn't go into the war unless they were defending my life, they aren't allowed to die."

"Well, your soldiers are fit and healthy, by fighting in the war they're protecting you, m'lady." The man argued, Lucy glared at him her eyes fierce, ready to hit him if need be.

"I don't think so. They stay. They started this mission with me and I'm not finishing it without them, do you understand?" Lucy growled, the man looked furious by her little outburst. He stood a step closer to her, meaning to seem threatening but Wyatt stepped in placing a hand on the mans chest, warning him to back off.

"Your a women with no authority, love, so don't think you can just come into this war and throw demands about, no need to bark orders like a dog." He spat, by this point Lucy had had it, she took hold of the mans shoulder and kneed him right where it hurt. Wyatt and Rufus winced when she hit him, knowing how painful that was, almost feeling sorry for him. Lucy leant down to where the soldiers head was bent as he groaned in pain.

"Talk to any women like that again and you'll be wishing you kept your mouth shut." Lucy hissed, standing up straight and dusting herself down and looking at the boys. "Come on, let's go find him."
They both nodded obediently, following closely behind her until they figured it was best to split up, knowing they'd get more ground covered that way.

Rufus skidded to a stop as he crashed into Wyatt, completely exhausted and out of breath from running, but he was pointing frantically over to the left.
"Flynn, I found him, he's talking to some guy with a ton of medals, which I'm guessing he's someone important and that's a bad thing." Rufus panted, Wyatt patted his shoulder as a well done and bolted off towards where Rufus said he'd seen Flynn, readying his gun. But he looked over his shoulder and called out.

"Go find Lucy!" He called to him, Rufus nodded, catching his breath first before starting fast through the crowd once more, this time in search for his friend. He swerved many injured soldiers that had came flooding in through the front entrance. Lucy was the only women in camp, how hard could it be to find her?

It took almost an hour but he eventually spotted her talking to the camps cook and made his way towards her in a hurry, accidentally shoving people on his way to her. He finally reached and tugged at her sleeve, interrupting her conversation. "Wyatt's after him, come on, I've been looking for you for the past hour." Rufus sighed, leading her away fast.

A gunshot rung out inside the camp, everyone falling silent at the noise, no one moving for a moment. There shouldn't have been a shot, it was a rule that no weapons should go off in the camp just in case it causes their camp to get discovered. Rufus and Lucy returned to their quick pace, knowing for fact the gunshots were from Flynn and Wyatt. Another round of bullets went off, whispers flying around, people mentioning soldiers going to check. The already scared soldiers, practically in tears now, terrified of their future, terrified that they'd never make it out to see their families. Rufus stood still, extending an arm out beside him to stop Lucy running forward, in the near distance you could see Flynn and his men running straight for the pearly white, new mother ship with Wyatt running behind them shooting the rest of his bullets, actually hitting one of Flynns goons in the leg but they still managed to get in the mother ship and vanish. Wyatt tossed his gun to the floor, cursing, it's bullets empty and no Flynn just like last time.

Rufus and Lucy reached him, Rufus placing a comforting hand on Wyatts shoulder, giving it a squeeze of reassurance that they'll catch him. Lucy bent down to pick up the empty gun, they weren't allowed to leave anything behind, seem as even the smallest detail could screw up the future. The three spun hearing the sound of someone readying to shoot, just behind them were a row of the soldiers, all pointing their guns for the three. They raised their hands as if to surrender but Wyatt knew they had to get back to their time ship and go back to the present. He subtly shuffled over to Lucy.

"Give me your gun, your going to make a run for the time ship, me and Rufus will be right behind you." Wyatt whispered, Lucy knew there was no time to argue so as quickly as she could she pulled out the gun passed it to Wyatt and she bolted literally running for her life.
Wyatt was telling the truth, him and Rufus were right behind her, both shooting at the soldiers. But the soldiers didn't bother shooting Wyatt and Rufus, they were aiming for Lucy, the command coming from the man she kicked earlier.
Just as she thought she'd made it there unharmed, she was knocked to the floor by a speeding bullet entering her body, she hit the floor hard, whacking her head as she did. Wyatt had no time to yell or check her to see how bad the wound was, if he did they both be dead so he picked up speed and scooped her into his arms without stopping, holding her in a bridal position, praying he didn't drop her. They reached a safe distance from the shooters but Wyatt and Rufus didn't stop, especially now that Lucy wasn't responding to Wyatts call for her. She looked limp in his arms, pale as a sheet of paper. They had to get Lucy back to the present now. Rufus opened the door, helping Wyatt lift Lucy carefully into the machine, then leaving Wyatt to strap her in as he started up the machine, ready to blast them back home. Lucy's head was leant forward, making it so Wyatt couldn't see her face, she was still slightly unconscious. His eyes travelled down her body, watching the red patch on her white blouse expand.
For the first time in a couple of years he was terrified for someone's life, afraid that at any moment she could be taken from him too. He leant forward, cupping Lucy's cheeks, giving them a light tap trying to keep her conscious. He heard her mumble something and he let out a breath of relief.

"Lucy. Hey. Stay with me, ok? Stay with me, just hold on." Wyatt urged as the ship began to rock, Rufus looked over his shoulder looking at Lucy with a worried expression, she was moving all over the place.

"Wyatt...she's not holding on..." Rufus rushed. Wyatt cursed as he undid his seat belts, almost falling as the ship shook, ready to blast off at any second. Rufus' eyes widened, terrified that he could now potentially lose another friend today. But Wyatt undid Lucy's belts, catching her as she fell forward and pulling her gently onto his lap, strapping them both in as best as he could, although this seat was only supposed to hold one person. He secured his hand on the edge of the chair and the other firmly around Lucy, trying to keep them both safe. Her head finally dropped and rested on his shoulder and now, now he was starting to panic. She was unconscious.
