Wyatt listened as Noah came in, his footsteps walking alongside Lucy's as they headed up the hallway towards the living room where he sat, prepared to see Lucy's fiancé, the thought made his blood run cold when he imagined her with him, but he bared a smile for her. As soon as Noah turned the corner into the living room, his eyes landed on Wyatt and there smiles dropped to frowns.

"Noah, you remember Wyatt, right?" Lucy said after clearing her throat, trying her best to ignore the death stares they'd been sending each other. Noah could remember how Wyatt and Lucy stood shoulder to shoulder when he came to her work place, he could remember the look Wyatt gave him when he touched Lucy and he knew it was jealousy. Seeing Wyatt in Lucy's home wasn't exactly pleasant. Wyatt felt the same way, he hoped the two hadn't recovered from their little tiff they'd had about him showing up at work and her having to tell him to stay away, he ended up getting dragged away by security guards. But Noah and Lucy seemed to have forgotten about that because the man was practically at her hip.

"Yeah," Noah replied, his voice flat with only the tone of dislike, Wyatt gave him the same look Noah was giving him. "Did Carol invite you?"

"No, Lucy did." Wyatt said, he saw the flicker of anger flash across Noah's eyes, then his jaw clench making Wyatt grin. Wyatt rose from the sofa and placed a hand on the edge of Lucy's shoulder. "I think I'll go help your mum in the kitchen for a little bit."

Lucy pulled a face, one that told him she didn't want him to leave but it vanished quickly and she cleared her throat. "Okay, I'll see you in a minute."

Wyatt helped Carol dish up the food as soon as it was ready, talking about random day to day things, then Carol picked up the courage and turned to him, a pot of vegetables in her hands.

"So, Wyatt, what was your job before all this secret business? It's just Lucy only tells me so little. Lucy was a history professor but I'm going to take a guess and think you already knew that, she loves history just as much as me." Carol smiled as though she was drifting into a flashback but she snapped out of it quickly and smiled at Wyatt once more.

"I uh-I was in the military for a couple of years, back then I was referred to as Master Sargent Logan, our boss calls me it from time to time, that's why I work where I do now, because I was a soldier." Wyatt answered, watching his feet it was hard for him to talk about those days of war.

"Military, whoa. Risking you life on a daily basis, I don't think I could do that," Carol mumbled, Wyatt wasn't sure if she was saying that to herself or to him, but either way Carol seemed amazed looking at Wyatt with wide eyes. "Does Lucy know?"

"Yeah, she knows more things than most." Wyatt said quietly, he couldn't help but glance in the direction of the living room. But he didn't want to reveal his feelings for Lucy to her mum, but she just smiled sweetly at him, she'd noticed how the two were so comfortable with one another, it was unmissable. She'd already sussed out that Wyatt and Lucy felt something for each other.

"She seems to have taken a liking to you, trusts you, quite possibly more than she trusts m-" Before Carol could finish Lucy strode in, narrowing her eyes as their conversation fell silent between her mum and Wyatt, Wyatt and Carol just gave her fake smiles.

"I just came to see how everything is going, you good?" Lucy spoke, still suspicious, folding her arms, looking to Wyatt, who'd dropped his gaze from her as she peered at him.

"Yeah, the food is ready, you'd best go tell Noah." Wyatt muttered, turning and taking hold of his and Lucy's plates, which were now full to the brim with food, the pair looked at the food hungrily but Wyatt placed them beside each other on the table. He knew it would bother Noah but he didn't really care. Lucy was watching him, she didn't mind the seating arrangements and turned to go and inform Noah that their food was done.

Lucy returned with Noah, his hand reached for Lucy's to try and manoeuvre her to sit beside him but Lucy moved her hand fast to fake scratch her nose, moving quick to take her place at Wyatt's side. He gave her one of those famous smirks and her heart fluttered in her chest, she felt the heat rise to her cheeks giving him a nervous smile back. Noah sat down in a huff, unhappy Lucy didn't sit beside him, he sat across from Lucy whilst Carol sat at the head of the table watching the interaction between the three sending a vibe, this might not be a calm, welcome home dinner after all. But she took notice of the blush that had rushed across her daughters face as Wyatt smirked at her. She took her eyes off the pair and glanced over at Noah as he spoke to her.

"This smells lovely as always, Carol." Noah complimented, making Carol smile happily, she loved it when people complimented her cooking. She loved it. If she wasn't a professor she would've been a chef instead.

"I just added a special touch to the gravy, secret recipe from my mother, I'll be able to share it with Lucy on her next birthday, she'll be the age I was when I found out what it was." Carol beamed, excitement plastered on her face, reaching over and placing a hand over Lucy's hand and giving it a small squeeze.

"Hopefully she'll be a better cook then." Noah chuckled, looking over at Lucy who had blushed forgetting he must've known how awful of a cooker she was compared to her mum. Wyatt smiled.

"Don't worry, I'm no good at cooking either. I'm sure you're a much better cook compared to me." Wyatt smiled, giving her a look of understanding, she smiled swallowing a laugh, knowing he was right. He'd tried to cook him and Lucy something when they were trapped through time. She thought her cooking tasted like a chef had cooked it compared to how Wyatt made it.

"I can agree with you on that one, that omelette, I've never tasted anything so disgusting in my life." Lucy laughed, Wyatt pretended to be shocked, but ended up laughing himself, remembering her look of disgust when she tried the food.

"Hey! That's only because those we're free range, otherwise I'm sure they would've been fit for a queen." Wyatt argued, taking a bite out of him roast potato, then gazing back at Lucy. She raised her eyebrows, wanting to laugh in his face.

"Ok, sure." She mumbled sarcastically, a smirk still wiped across her face. The pair had almost forgot they were in the company of other people, not until Noah had rose to his feet to grab a glass of water. Lucy didn't move, she just smiled, happy she and Wyatt were having a good time although she had to admit, she felt bad for Noah having to sit their and watch them. Carol had almost finished her food and she looked up at the pair who were both tucking quietly into their food, smiles plastered on their faces and she couldn't help but smile too. Lucy was happy.
