Jiya helped Lucy down from her bed and into the wheelchair, which was more difficult than it sounded, especially with a bullet wound. Lucy winced at every moment but she didn't fuss, Jiya finally got her comfortable in the chair and smiled down at her.
"Sorry we couldn't get you something more comfortable." Jiya apologized, but Lucy shook her head at the girl.
"It's good to be out of the bed, even if I haven't been in it all that long, so, lets go wait for the boys, shall we? Hopefully they haven't killed anyone important." Lucy muttered, giving Jiya a worried laugh. She hated not being with them, they had no idea who impacted history and half the time they kill the important guys. Or Flynn does, then they have to fix it. Lucy tapped her foot impatiently, focusing on where the time ship would appear.
"They won't be back for a little while. For you guys it seems quicker seem as your the ones chasing Flynn, but here, all we do is wait." Jiya told her as she settled at her computer, typing up something. Lucy was happy her job was going through time, she'd rather that than waiting around, she was an impatient person and impatient people hated waiting.
She wheeled her chair over to Christopher who'd become a big fan of Lucy recently for some reason. Christopher smiled brightly as Lucy approached, she put down the file she was showing Mason, making him frown but he smiled at Lucy too.
"Lucy, sorry about the wheelchair, we were thinking of making something so your healing process was faster, but the government disproved of the idea." Christopher explained, but Lucy waved her hand.
"No, the chair's fine, it's only a couple weeks and I'll be on my feet and then a couple weeks more and I'll be good as new, except the scar obviously. That'll be there forever." Lucy muttered, looking down at her lap. She hadn't seen the wound yet, she hadn't brought herself to look at it, so she wasn't sure how she would handle having the scar, betting it was probably disgusting.
"Well it'll be a good story to tell if anyone sees it. Although you'd have to skip the jumping through time to world war two part." Mason smirked, giving her a reassuring smile but she wasn't fond of the man, so she didn't smile back. She didn't like that he dragged Rufus into his Rittenhouse mess and now every trip they take they were being recorded.
"Has my mum came by to visit today?"
"We told her she couldn't visit until tomorrow, no one who doesn't know about the time machine must be around it when you guys take a mission. Cheer up Lucy, you'll be back in that ship with them soon." Christopher assured her, giving her shoulder a squeeze. Lucy smiled up at her with a sigh then over at where they'd come back.
"I hope so. God knows what their doing there." Lucy mumbled, her voice quiet. She nodded a goodbye to Mason and Christopher and headed back to wait beside Jiya, just in time for their hair to be blown backwards. Lucy groaned, knowing that her hair was most likely tangled now. But everyone's attention was on the time ship, it was always tense when they returned from a mission, terrified if one of them weren't there, if one of them were badly hurt, if they'd done something terrible to screw up the future. But nothing felt different.
The door of the time ship unlocked, sliding open and revealing an exhausted Wyatt and following closely behind was Rufus. Jiya was up and heading down to greet them, leaving Lucy watching the pair happy they were safe. Wyatt caught sight of her as she reached the top of the stairs, keeping her distance from it knowing one simple push and she'd be tumbling down. Wyatt shifted under her gaze unsure of whether to head over."Wyatt!" Lucy called to him as he was about to make the decision of going the other way. He glanced over at her, she rolled her eyes gesturing him over. He headed towards her, still hesitant. "Are you okay?"
"Oh you know, fighting the usual soldiers. Oh and before you ask, I didn't kill anyone, I couldn't, I knew if I killed someone and they were important you would have killed me." Wyatt smirked, Lucy gave him a smile, thankful he didn't.
"Well thank you for not killing anyone. I'm happy you're okay...both of you."
"I see you can get around now, does that mean you get to leave this place?" Wyatt asked curiously, examining her wheelchair as though he was making sure it was safe.
"Christopher doesn't advise it, but yeah, I can. I'm guessing you won't be keeping me company tonight?" Lucy said quietly, knowing Wyatt was still riled up about earlier. "Look, I'm sorry about that, I didn't mean-"
"Lucy it's fine, I knew you and Rufus didn't mean to say anything, you didn't know. Me and Rufus spoke about it in 1937. We're all good now, that means you too" Wyatt told her, placing a hand over hers her eyes watched as her ran his thumb over the back of her hand. Her breath hitched for a second, her eyes darting up at Wyatt to see if he heard, he was watching her but she was sure he hadn't realised. She cleared her throat.
"Good, so we're good, thats good." She rushed, the corners of her lips quirked into an anxious smile. "So we're ok? Your sure?"
"I'm 100% sure, my mumbles are often about me leaving Jessica at the side of the road, that's why I was so defensive." Wyatt sighed, sitting on the top stair, his hand slipping away from Lucy's, she immediately missed the lack of contact but fought the urge to grab his hand. Her heart broke, she'd heard most of his mumbles and now they were piecing together, she just wanted to hug him but she couldn't. He said some harsh things when he was asleep, blaming himself mostly, saying awful things about himself.
"Wyatt...I'm so sorry..." Lucy whispered, resting her hand on his shoulder seem as it was the only part of him she could reach. "Just so you know, if I wasn't in a wheelchair, I'd hug you. But for now, I'm going to have to stick to Rufus' shoulder touch thing."
Wyatt let out a laugh, looking over at her with a grin, placing his hand back over hers as it rested on his shoulder. "Thanks Lucy, how about you, me and Rufus go grab a drink?"
"I'd like that," Lucy smiled, their hands parting and Wyatt got to his feet, grabbing the handles of Lucy's wheelchair, "You don't have to wheel me you know, plus I'm feeling like a milkshake, can we get one?"
"Anything for the girl who survived a gunshot, right?" Wyatt smirked, pushing her gently around the rushing people but Lucy stopped him quickly. Both of them almost flying forward, Lucy groaned, holding her side, Wyatt quick to see if she was ok. "God Lucy! Why would you pull the brake like that?!"
"Your still in your costume and Rufus isn't with us." Lucy grumbled, listening the side of her top to look at the wound, it looked a little red but that was expected but Lucy grimaced as she looked at it. "Great."
"What? Do you need to go to med?" Wyatt asked, looking at it, but once he went to look she pulled down her top to cover it, she shook her head.
"No, just didn't realise how ugly it was going to be." She sighed, staring forward, Wyatt furrowed his brows, stepping into his view.
"I have a few myself, how do you think I feel? Come on, I'll take you to med bay to get you checked and make sure everythings alright whilst I go get Rufus and change out of these stupid clothes."
