Wyatt walked up the pathway leading up to Rufus's house, Lucy at his arm, looking in awe of the house which was bigger than either of them had expected. Cars were pulled up outside the house, just seeing them Wyatt knew there was going to be a lot of people crowded in there. He looked at Lucy, she seemed pretty happy, the energetic side of her wanting to rush in and party, but she held it back and looked at Wyatt with a smile, knocking on the door. A older woman opened the door a wide smile on her face as she looked at Lucy and Wyatt.

"Let me guess. Wyatt and Lucy?" The woman said, gesturing them inside, closing the door softly behind them. As soon as they got in the could sense the cheery atmosphere, lively bouncy Christmas music chiming softly in the background. They could hear distant chatter, people sounding Christmas ready, polite conversations being thrown around here and there. Christmas decorations practically coating the place, Wyatt and Lucy headed into the room closest to them, which must've been the living room, her eyes had a little twinkle in them as she gazed up at the Christmas tree, decorated with lights, ball balls, tinsel and a innocent angel resting at the top. "Ah, you like the angel?"

"It's beautiful." Lucy smiled, turning her attention away from the tree and to the woman beside her.

"My mother, Rufus's grandmother gave it to us after she passed, no one knows where she brought it from, so we call it one of a kind." The woman said softly, a glass of wine resting in her small, slightly wrinkled hands. "I'm Rufus's mother by the way."

"It's wonderful to meet you, Mrs Carlin." Lucy spoke, holding out her hand Mrs Carlin taking it gladly. "This is an incredible party, your homes lovely."

"It's all thanks to Rufus, he pays for all of this, without him...we'd be living in terrible conditions." Mrs Carlin said, sadness hinted in her voice making Wyatt step in, knowing he wasn't a fan of tears and he could see the woman on the bridge to crying.

"Speaking of Rufus, where is he?" Wyatt asked, his arm still linked with Lucy's.

"Oh, he should be through the door on the right, its the dining hall, no doubt he's dancing with Jiya." She told them, they both nodded a goodbye and headed for the room next door, just as his mother had said, Rufus was dancing swiftly with Jiya, her giggling at a joke most likely. Lucy made an awkward glance at Wyatt, they were the only ones stood still in the room of dancing people. Wyatt noticed her exchange and held out his hand.

"I'm not much of a dancer, but who you join me?" Wyatt asked, Lucy blushed, placing her palm in his smiling brightly.

"I'd love too." Lucy said Wyatt nodded and took up a space that was available, he placed his hand on Lucy's waist and the other in her hand, Lucy smiled resting her arm around Wyatts neck, swaying happily to the soft song of White Christmas. It wasn't one of Lucy's favourite Christmas songs but she listened to it, whilst looking at Wyatt, she had to admit, he wasn't a bad dancer. At least he hadn't stepped on her foot yet.
Wyatt grinned down at her, he liked dancing with her, just them and soft music it was like a moment he could get lost in.
Lucy craned her neck to look up at him, noticing him watching her, smiling back an understanding passing to each other. She stepped closer, resting her head on his chest, unsure if this was crossing their boundaries but Wyatt took his hand out of hers and curled it around her so he was holding her close, resting his chin on the top of her head. "I like this."

"...me too." Wyatt mumbled back, he could remember the last time he danced, it was with Jessica at their wedding, before all the arguing started. Just like then, he was treasuring this moment of happiness, happiness didn't come easy in his life and when he'd got it, he'd hold on as tight as he could. "I didn't think I was going to have a dance like this again, a quiet, happy one I mean, I—I thought I had one chance at happiness and I ruined it, but right now, I'm happy, maybe I've got a second chance and if I have, I won't let it slip through my fingers, not again."

Lucy listened at his words as they danced, she wasn't sure if he was talking about her or their lives in general but she smiled, looking up at him, arms still around one another. "Merry Christmas, Wyatt."

"Merry Christmas, Lucy." Wyatt let out a little breath as he said those words, he knew he this year, he wouldn't be alone for Christmas. He had new people to care for, people he loved. A team.
