Lucy leaned against the bonnet of her car, humming a song she'd recently been listening too tapping her foot to the silent beat in her mind as she scrolled through her social media as she waited for Wyatt. Lucy had just arrived when she'd gotten Wyatt's message, she didn't really want to think much of it but something in the message seemed urgent so she stayed outside the building as Flynn's words earlier stayed fresh in her mind. Part of her trusted Flynn as crazy as it was. Lucy heard the roar of Wyatt's truck which was speeding down the road, heading quickly towards the building. It only took seconds for Wyatt to pull up, jump out of his truck and grab Lucy's hand, gently tugging her into his passenger seat.
"What's going on, Wyatt?" Lucy asked, seeing the clear distress swarming his expression as his eyes darted back and forth, watching Mason Industries like a hawk.
"Rittenhouse is in there, Flynn was telling the truth, I had to beat two of their guards to get Agent Christopher out of there. I just dropped her off then headed here as quick as possible before you went in." Wyatt explained, his words rushed but Lucy caught each one, a worried look filling her features. Wyatt reached across entwining their hands, giving her hand a squeeze, providing them both with comfort. "I don't know what they're doing in there, I have no interest but I know they'll want us to retrieve something or kill someone from the past, most likely they'll threaten us, but what else have I got to lose? I've got you right here. I won't let them harm you."
"But Rufus and Jiya are in there, we can't just ditch them." Lucy said softly, her thumb stroking the back of Wyatts hand, letting out a sigh. As much as she liked the idea of them both just leaving right now, they couldn't. Not without the people they cared about. "We can't leave my mum, nor can we leave Rufus and Jiya and we both know Rufus can't leave, not when his families lifes on the line, so what do we do?"
"Maybe...maybe we could get Rufus's family and your mum in a safe house, somewhere only we know about and then we get the others and we head for the house?" Wyatt suggested, looking at Lucy to see her reaction and if she liked the idea. Lucy was thinking, trying to suss out whether the plan could work. And it could, but it was risky. Like taking a leap into the unknown, all the things that could go wrong crossed her mind, how she was going to sneak the family to a safe house when Rittenhouse was no doubt watching their every move. But when she glanced up at Wyatt, hope filling his eyes she found herself struggling to say that it could go wrong, that there was a huge potential they'd cause unnecessary panic with Rufus's family, that they wouldn't be able to get Rufus and Jiya out without being caught.
"But Rittenhouse...they could be watching us. What if they see us? What if it goes wrong and they kill everyone?" Lucy sighed, staring down at her lap not wanting to see the hope fade from Wyatt's eyes, knowing the sight would only hurt her heart. She heard Wyatt give a heavy sigh and slump back in his seat. They both sat in silence nonchalantly, not wanting to say anything more until they came up with something logical and that might actually work.
Soon enough Wyatt craned his neck to look over at Lucy who had drained of colour at thinking of what Rittenhouse would do to them if they were caught. Lucy felt Wyatt's eyes prying at her, begging her to look into his but she couldn't bring herself to do it, she knew she'd give in and do whatever their crazy plan was if he did. Wyatt knew he wasn't going to get her to look at him so he lightly reached over and delicately touched Lucy's chin to bring her face to face his.
"I know you're scared, I know that your someone who could sit and analyse all the things that could go wrong, someone who knows the effects of their actions. But this one time, I need you to look at the good possibilities. We save your mum, Rufus's family, we can get Rufus and Jiya and who knows, maybe we stay at the safe house, maybe we move, find some place better hidden, just look at the bright side of the plan." Wyatt told her, his voice soft as though he was speaking to a child, a smile creeping along his face as Lucy brought her eyes to meet his, he knew that she was going to agree with his plan. "So, we split up, that way if Rittenhouse is following us then they'll have to choose one of us to follow so go to yours, keep checking if someone is tailing you, if not then head straight for yours and then to Rufus's, find a safe place and take them there. I'll get Rufus and Jiya, then you text me the address, agreed?"
Lucy had a hesitant look on her face but she forced a smile, trying to believe that everything would turn out as they were expecting, which it never did. She pulled Wyatt into a kiss before nodding, "Agreed, but please for the love of God, be careful. These people are dangerous."
