Almost Riddled With Bullets.

A couple days later:

Wyatt settled to the quiet chirping of the birds sing song up in the trees, the quiet muffle from the chatter from Flynn and his men. Wyatt finally had him, a clear shot and no Lucy telling him he couldn't kill him, no Rufus complaining about something like; humanity for example. Wyatt reached for his gun, he wasn't to far from them, if he outstretched his arm and aimed it well he'd take Flynn out with no problem and finally his job would be completed. He was a soldier and he'd been given an order, it wasn't like he was trying not to shoot Flynn, it just seemed impossible for him to get a clean shot without some historic jerk stepping the way.
But in this case it wasn't some historic jerk, Wyatt had his finger gently on the trigger, one eye squeezed close and a look of concentration scrawled across his expression. One squeeze and it'll be over. But was about to pull the trigger one of Flynns asshole friends stepped in Wyatts view. Wyatt gritted his teeth, furious.

"Can't I catch a break?" He grumbled, not moving from his position, waiting patiently for whoever it was to move out of his way but they seemed pretty stuck on the idea of staying put. Wyatt crept around trying to get another clear shot from a different angle but it was no use. Flynn was circled, guarded by his men.
Wyatt cursed and stuffed the gun back in his belt, just in time for Lucy to return clumsily tripping on a branch and landing on Wyatt, she opened her mouth to apologise but Wyatt clasped his hand over her mouth. His eyes bored into hers as they stayed quiet. Wyatt knew they'd been heard but he wasn't sure if Flynn would take the chance to approach. Wyatt didn't move Lucy, moving his hand from her mouth and holding her so she stayed still, praying she didn't move and snap a twig or something. He used his free hand quickly snatching up his gun from his belt again, ready to kill someone if need be. Lucy shivered in fear, she hated the fact she was so clumsy, she rested her hands on Wyatts chest, doing her best to remain still. Watching as Wyatt prepared for the worst.
Lucy tried to look for any sign of movement approaching them but there was nothing. Her eyes flickered down to Wyatt and mouthed "I don't see anything." Wyatt understood but he had a gut feeling, something was telling him to stay there, like an instinct. He shook his head at Lucy, warning her to stay there. Wyatt was thankful that Rufus was back at the Lifeboat, safe otherwise they'd have a big problem. Bullets rung out, one blasting past Wyatt and Lucy, Lucy clasped her hand over her mouth to force back her scream. She led her head on Wyatt hearing another round go off in their direction. Wyatt knew any minute they'd be riddled with bullets.
He glanced around seeing a near by rock they could hide behind as a shield and looked at Lucy.

"I'm going to need you to hold onto me really tight, if you let go you'll end up like those leaves. Ready?" Wyatt whispered, Lucy hated his crazy ideas but she wrapped her arms around Wyatt, holding her hands behind his back, locking her around him, she buried her face in his chest holding on as much as she could, and next thing she knew she felt like she was getting crushed then not, then getting crushed again until it stopped but she was too afraid to look up. Terrified she'd find a bleeding out, bullet holed Wyatt. "It's safe to look up, just watch out, their still shooting, I don't think they saw us."

"I'm sorry, I didn't see the branch. Honestly, I hate myself sometimes, I could have got us both killed." Lucy grumbled, annoyed at herself. Wyatt frowned as she spoke.

"Don't say that. Come on, it was a mistake, don't fret, we're both breathing," Wyatt assured her, placing his hands behind her neck, pulling her down gently and kissing her head. "Let's get out of here, I'm sure Flynn will be over to make sure we're dead any second now."

Her cheeks warmed. Wyatt grasped hold of her hand, scanning the trees for an opening they could run for and nodded to Lucy and they bolted, a chime of bullets after them. They heard Flynn say something that was probably a swearing in Russian. But by the time Flynn went after them, they'd vanished into the city, returning to Rufus, getting in the getaway car. Which obviously they'd stolen (as always.)
Flynn let out a cry of anger, furious he'd lost them again, his original goal wasn't to kill them, no that'll screw up the future; Lucy's diary and he needed that. No he just wanted to kidnap them, take them hostage in whatever era and make sure they stay out of his way until he'd completed the task he'd come to do. Harmless really.

Wyatt fell into the passengers seat as Lucy leapt into the back seats, Rufus driving as soon as they touched the car, it had been like this for weeks, they'd been stuck in 1864, they had no idea what for, not even Lucy and she was the historian. They tried to catch their breath as Rufus drove as fast as the old fashioned machine could take them. He looked in the rearview mirror, there was no sign of Flynn and his goons, but he wasn't risking slowing down. He glanced at his friends, his eyebrows furrowed.

"Anyone shot?" Rufus asked, as he swerved around other rickety cars driving along the paved road, the air was muggy, yet he could still feel the bad aura he felt when he stepped out of the Lifeboat. Both Wyatt and Lucy patted themselves down searching for any wounds but they were clear.

"Nothing."

"Me neither." Lucy breathed, buckling in and looking out of the window, Rufus wasn't going as fast seem as there was many people wandering the streets and if he hit one, they'd have no idea how important they were. Rufus let out a sigh of relief.

"You know, I'm usually against me getting the car but this time, I'm glad you sent me for the car. Aren't we supposed to be the ones doing the shooting?" Rufus said panic still in his voice, a slight quiver as he spoke. "I mean. What does he want here? We've been searching for the reason for weeks yet theres nothing."

"I'm pretty sure my mum wasn't expecting me to be gone this long." Lucy muttered, mostly to herself but Wyatt let out a laugh.

"I don't think Noah expected you to be gone this long either." Wyatt rreplied Lucy narrowed her eyes. Things were tense between the two, they both knew they had feelings for each other, yet after that kiss, there's been no other contact. They had still remained friends, which both of them didn't seem to want, they wanted more but they didn't know how to be more than friends. What with Noah, their job and knowing at any moment they could be taken away from each other. It just didn't seem the right time to discuss it. Especially when they'd just almost got killed.
Rufus gripped the wheel until his knuckles turned white, he glanced nervously between his two friends.

"Do—do you think they think we're dead?" Rufus spoke, Wyatt and Lucy looked at him. They hoped they didn't think they were, because if they did get back and no one was there, it would be a little awkward. But Lucy tried not to think about it too much.

"They must know Flynn hasn't returned yet so, maybe they think we're ok," Lucy smiled, placing a hand on Rufus's shoulder, knowing he was thinking about Jiya. "Besides, if they did think we were dead then I'm pretty sure Jiya wouldn't stop until she knew for sure."

"I just hope she's ok, before we left...we had an argument, it was our first argument and we didn't say goodbye. I just—if something happens to me and we never get to resolve that row, then I don't know. I don't want her to think I don't love her."

"Trust me Rufus, she knows you love her. All the best relationships have arguments from time to time, it's healthy." Lucy muttered, although she wasn't entirely sure if that was true, she used to argue a lot with her exes and it usually ended badly, but she knew Rufus and Jiya; they loved each other. They'd be good soon enough.
