Jessica's POV

I stare out into space; not really paying attention to what Ms. June - my English teacher - is saying. A knock on the door snaps me back into reality. "Ah, Mr. Barn. How can I help you?" Ms. June says with a slightly forced smile. "Can I borrow Jessica please?" He asks as he looks at me with a smile. "Sure." Ms. June smiles. I grab my stuff - as there is only 20 minutes left of the lesson - before heading out the classroom, along with Mr. Barn.

I wait for him as he closes the door before walking somewhere; probably his office.

"What's this about?" I ask as we walk down the quiet corridor. "You." He simply says, smiling down at me. "What about me?" I ask as we walk down a corridor, only teachers are allowed to go down. "You'll find out in a minute, Jess." He says as he opens his office door, allowing me to enter first.

I walk over to his desk; where I sit down on one the chairs placed in front of it. I then place my bag down next to me on the floor. I watch as Mr. Barn quickly closes the door before walking over and sitting behind his desk, opposite me. "Is this about my attendance, sir?" I ask as he gets something up on his computer. "Mhm." He hums, not taking his eyes of his computer screen. "Do still have to stay behind, sir?" I ask. He looks at me, "No, you don't." He smiles. I sigh, "Thank God." I chuckle. "Was it that bad, staying with Mr. Minter?" He asks. "Sometimes it was." I say. He nods, "But it was mostly good?" He asks. "Mhm." I hum whilst nodding. He smiles, "I guessed that." "Why?" I ask. "He always came home with a smile on his face, after staying behind with you." Mr. Barn smiles. "Oh, really?" I ask as I feel my face heat up slightly. "Mhm." He hums.

"Anyway, you may go, Jessica." Mr. Barn smiles. I stand up as I grab my bag. "See you, sir." I smile before walking towards the door. I look back briefly to see him looking back at his computer screen. I sigh quietly as I walk out of his office.

I look at the time to see that there is only 5 minutes left of the lesson left. I decide to find Simon to tell him that I don't have to stay behind anymore.

-

I walk down the corridor towards his office, just as he's walking out. He sees me and smiles widely, making me smile as well. "What're you doing here Jess?" He asks once we're close to each other. "I don't have to stay behind anymore." I say, looking up at him. His smile fades, "Oh, really?" He asks. I nod, "Mhm, Mr. Barn said so." I mutter. "Si, it's not like we're not going to still see each other." I say, grabbing his hand. "I know, but..." He begins. "But what?" I ask. "I've enjoyed staying behind with you." He sighs. "And I've enjoyed staying behind with you." I smile at him. "Like I said, we'll still see each other." I say. "Yeah..." He huffs.

"Tell you what. I'll stay behind tonight, for you." I smile up at him. He smiles back down at me, "I'd like that."
